A body has been found in the area where Vladislav Baumgertner was being searched in Cyprus, and the investigation is taking on an international dimension.

The body of a man was found in the coastal area between Pissouri and Avdimou in Cyprus – in the very same area where a search for former Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner was conducted for several days.

The body was found on the inaccessible cliffs of Cape Aspro, the same place where the last signal from his mobile phone had been recorded.

The discovery area falls within the jurisdiction of British sovereign military bases, which automatically complicates the investigation: the case is being handled not only by Cypriot law enforcement agencies in Limassol, but also by British police. This means that the identification and examination process will involve multiple jurisdictions.

There is no official confirmation of the deceased's identity yet. According to preliminary reports, the condition of the body does not allow for visual identification, so DNA testing will almost certainly be ordered. Local authorities note that due to the terrain and weather conditions, the body could have been on the rocks for several days.

Baumgertner disappeared on January 7. He had lived in Limassol, Cyprus, for many years, leading a reclusive life and rarely appearing in public. On the day of his disappearance, he was last seen in a taxi heading toward Pissouri, a sparsely populated coastal area with steep banks. After that, all contact with him was lost.

It was previously reported that the search was complicated by the rugged coastal terrain, the lack of tourist routes, and limited access to the cliffs. Various theories were considered, including an accident, but the investigation has not yet reached any official conclusions.

Baumgertner is a figure with a complex biography. He was once at the center of an international scandal involving his arrest in Minsk and the conflict surrounding Uralkali, after which he virtually disappeared from the public eye. His disappearance and the discovery of his body in a specially designated area have already sparked intense attention both in Cyprus and abroad.
