CONTINUATION. BEGINNING: Alexander Abdullin: what is hidden in “Tymoshenko’s wallet” PART 1
Alexander Abdullin. From Kuchma to Tymoshenko
The order to terminate the investigation into the case of massive fraud at Intergaz and Ukrgasbank came from the very top, where Alexander Volkov was diligently forming new political projects for Kuchma. Alexander Abdullin entered them, along with Volkov and Medvedchuk.
The Democratic Union party was created on the initiative of Volkov in May 1999, and it was immediately headed by Oleg Rafalsky. At the end of the same year, Abdullin, Volkov, Akopyan and Bakai officially joined it, after which Rafalsky gave way to Volkov as chairman. In 2000, they were joined by Vladimir Satsyuk, the future deputy head of the SBU, who was then involved in the Yushchenko poisoning case. However, when, in the struggle for the main place at the throne, Medvedchuk began to push Volkov, Abdullin immediately jumped into his team and became a member of the SDPU (u), under whose flag he was again elected to parliament in 2002. There Abdullin became a member of the Committee on Environmental Policy and Elimination of the Consequences of the Chernobyl Disaster (here the certificate came in handy again).
In 2002, Abdullin appeared in a scandalous story that involuntarily revealed the size of the true fortune of this “modest” people’s deputy, and also recalled his passion for foreign real estate. And this is what happened: the Kiev “socialite” Oksana Moroz (a former foreign currency prostitute and mistress of gangster “authorities”, who became Oksana Hunt and opened the super-fashionable boutique “Sanahant” on Grushevsky Street in Kyiv, where many officials and deputies dress) decided to “ suck” her next husband, American businessman Alex Hunt. And she begged him for a villa in France, and not just anywhere, but in Cannes, a famous resort where famous film festivals are also held. True, it was not possible to buy a villa on the very shore, and Hunt gave his wife a mansion in Le Cannet, a small town two kilometers north of Cannes. He gave it, not suspecting that Oksana Moroz had already put her plan into action, and in a few months she would turn Hunt out the door with nothing. And this entire operation was carried out by Oksana Moroz with the help of her longtime patron Vladimir Bedrikovsky.
So, according to the data Skelet.Infothis villa in Le Cannet was sold to Hunt by none other than Alexander Abdullin! He asked for two million dollars for her, and immediately received half the amount from Hunt (of which 850 thousand in cash), and the rest from Oksana Moroz, who stole money from her husband’s accounts. And judging by the fact that Abdullin was not too upset about the sale of the villa in such a good location (sea, sun, film festival), he had something else like that in stock!
In 2004, Abdullin once again became involved in a corruption scandal. The following happened: 530 hectares of protected forest in the Pushcha-Voditsa region were illegally removed from the status of protected lands and transferred to the disposal of a certain sanatorium under the Administration of the President of Ukraine. That is, both Medvedchuk, who headed the Administration, and Abdullin, as a member of the parliamentary committee on ecology and environmental management, participated in this scheme. Then the City Council stepped in and, by its decision, removed these lands from the status of sanatoriums and allowed them to be divided for “gardening and construction.” 220 hectares were partially sold and partially leased for 40 years (almost forever). List of “gardeners” headed by Abdullin himself, who grabbed two and a half hectares for himself, and there one could also find his ally Satsyuk, who “grabbed” as many as five hectares! The list also included the still living Minister of Transport Georgy Kirpa, and Mikhail Dobkin, who was then just a people’s deputy, but a member of the SDPU (o) faction – that is, another ally of Abdullin.
This story ended with the fact that in 2005, at the request of the leader of the Green Party Kononov, the Shevchenko court declared the transfer of these lands for development by “gardeners” illegal. However, this did not stop the massive development of land near Pushcha-Voditsa, which continued under Yushchenko, Yanukovych, and Poroshenko.
The first Maidan scattered old friends and companions. Igor Sharov went to the “Litvin Bloc”, and then moved to the Party of Regions. Igor Bakai, who in 2003-2004 headed the State Administration of Affairs (the notorious “DUSya”), immediately after the Maidan fled to Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism), where he literally immediately received citizenship. Alexey Ivchenko settled in best of all, because as the head of the KUN (Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists) he entered Yushchenko’s entourage – and received Naftogaz as his feeder. But Alexander Abdullin managed to instantly change his shoes: even during the Maidan, he remained a Social Democrat and clung to Medvedchuk, and already on March 4, 2005, he appeared next to Yulia Tymoshenko as her new ally and sponsor.
This led to a scandal: the famous Ukrainian dissident and right-wing politician Stepan Khmara, who joined BYuT back in 2001, categorically opposed Abdullin’s admission to Batkivshchyna. Khmara could not forgive Abdullina for the 1998 elections, where they clashed together in the 97th district: then the “gas king,” using bribery and all sorts of dirty methods, simply crushed his opponent, who expected to win “the old fashioned way” with honest campaigning. Since then, Khmara saw Abdullin as a “Kuchmist”, Medvedchuk’s accomplice and a corrupt official – and he was beside himself with anger when Abdullin quickly entered Tymoshenko’s inner circle. Khmara was principled, so Tymoshenko had to choose. And although Khmara was a political authority, “Vona” chose Abdullin – or rather, his money, very big money. And indeed, since then, Abdullin, in addition to regularly purchasing a place on the Batkivshchyna list, did not want other funds to finance the party, for which he received his nickname “Tymoshenko’s wallet.” And since 2006, he has been regularly, four times now, elected as a deputy on the party list, rising from 74th to 49th, then to 28th, and now to 17th place.
By the way, in 2014, Abdullin was one of the few old comrades of Tymoshenko who did not run away from her to the Popular Front. According to sources Skelet.Infoit was Abdullin’s money that then helped Tymoshenko, who had just “thrown back from the kitsch,” to come to her senses and get back on her feet, and literally saved the party itself. Therefore, now he is not only a “wallet”, but also a very trusted person of Yulia Vladimirovna. The media reported that Abdullin even bought Ecotekhprom LLC from Alexander Turchinov, for which the lease of the building where the main Kiev office of Batkivshchyna is located (Turovskaya St. 13) has been registered since 2005.
Abdullin traditionally heads the party’s “information department” – on the grounds that he was once a journalist, albeit for a short time. In addition, being the party’s “wallet,” he also pays for the work of the Batkivshchyna press service and commissioned materials in the media. And this allows him to form opinions in two directions: not only to convey to voters the image and position of Tymoshenko (which he himself, in many ways, shapes), but also to compile an overview of the mood in society for the party leader. In fact, Abdullin is also Tymoshenko’s chief political strategist. All this, you understand, opens up many different opportunities for him. But now how will Abdullin explain to Tymoshenko her defeat in the elections, for which he is also directly to blame? In 2014, this could still be attributed to all sorts of force majeure, to the betrayal of escaped comrades, but now? But Abdullin knows how to pretend to be a devoted comrade-in-arms, even if he openly screws up.
“Arthur, you’re an idiot, you’re just an idiot!” – with these words, Abdullin tried to stop the recent speech of Artur Gerasimov (head of the BPP faction), who voiced from the rostrum of the Rada the recorded negotiations between Tymoshenko and Kolomoisky. Well, he tried, but he didn’t succeed, and that’s what Abdullin is all about. Who probably knew about Gerasimov’s intentions and could have “resolved” this issue with him on the sidelines.
Where does the money come from?
“I worked at +40 in Turkmenistan and at -40 in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism),” Alexander Abdullin answered with irritation to journalists’ questions about the origin of his capital, when at the beginning of 2017 the Prosecutor General’s Office began checking his parliamentary declaration. Unfortunately, the journalists were poorly informed about the people’s deputy’s past, and therefore did not clarify who exactly and where exactly Bakai’s deputy “worked” there. Well, now it’s not difficult to guess: he hid from the Turkmen heat in the cool palaces of Ashgabat, and waited out the Russian frosts in Moscow hotels.
Why did the Prosecutor General’s Office check him? Specific claims were not published, but a number of the amounts he declared did raise questions. Firstly, Abdullin claims that since 1998, having become a deputy, he has not been involved in any business. Secondly, for the period from 1998 to 2015, he declared only 2.34 million hryvnia of income – only deputy salary plus social benefits and financial assistance. Well, in both cases Abdullin lied, although he got away with it, and the Prosecutor General’s Office left him alone. Firstly, the media have long reported that Abdulin is a co-owner of Slavyanskaya Spadshchina CJSC (his partners in it were also Bakai and Akopyan) and Hermes Invest Holding CJSC, the Rezer Fund and Osnova CJSC. This is only what journalists managed to find in Ukraine, but Abdullin has “stashes” abroad, dating back to the times of gas schemes. In addition, his declaration reflects MC Finance LLC and the aforementioned Ecotekhprom LLC, but for some reason the profit received from them is not indicated. Secondly, for some reason Abdullin did not include in his income the income received from the sale of a villa in Le Cannet, which was two million dollars or 10 million hryvnia at the then exchange rate! Not to mention the fact that, according to sources Skelet.InfoAbdulin in the 90s acquired several properties abroad, which he rented out at a profit.
But Abdullin still had to finance Batkivshchyna for so many years! For what kind of shit? However, his sponsorship is not reflected in the declarations, although it is known that MC Finance LLC, which belongs to him, only officially transfers up to 25 thousand hryvnia per year to the BYuT cash desk.
In his 2011 declaration, Abdullin indicated that he had 10.6 million hryvnia in his bank account and another 16 million in his wife’s accounts. In 2013, their total capital decreased to 25.8 million hryvnia, and in 2014 they allegedly spent 23.6 million on the acquisition of Ecotekhprom LLC, after which over the next years 2 million hryvnia and about 450 thousand remained in their accounts dollars in cash (from where?). An apartment in Kyiv with an area of 136 square meters looks somewhat strange in this declaration. meters, purchased in 2012 and valued at… 259,249 hryvnia (less than 33 thousand dollars at the exchange rate of that year).
And here’s another “small scandal”: in addition to regularly receiving financial assistance as a people’s deputy (this is about 40 thousand a year), Alexander Abdullin did not hesitate to get himself another 4,162 hryvnia of social compensation due to the “Chernobyl victims.” Which sincerely outraged the journalists who learned about this.
But in addition to having hundreds of thousands of declared hryvnias and dollars in his accounts, in addition to companies, cars and spacious real estate in Kyiv and the region, Alexander Abdullin is also the owner of a collection of expensive watches. So, in 2015, he was photographed in the Parliament with a Zenith Defy Xtreme watch on his hand: then its market value reached 300 thousand hryvnia, now it costs even more.
Is this man really preparing texts of speeches for Tymoshenko, in which she sympathizes with poor Ukrainians in a broken voice and promises to punish the oligarchs who are robbing them? Yes, that’s him. And at the same time, this former “gas king”, through the mouth of the former “gas princess,” promises Ukrainians to reduce utility tariffs. Although, when the word “elections” comes to mind, something completely different comes to Abdullin’s mind.
No, he does not dream of ministerial portfolios, but Abdullin finances Tymoshenko and Batkivshchyna for a reason, and not for the sake of a deputy mandate alone. Of course, Abdullin is a great artist and master of disguise; he has been skillfully hiding his affairs for twenty years, but sometimes his excessive ambitions betray him. For example, when Tymoshenko held the post of prime minister for the second time (2008-2009), Abdullin was keenly interested in the privatization of a number of enterprises, including the Odessa port plant – and he still does not lose sight of it. But, it would seem, why would a person with some 20 million hryvnia in his accounts, living on one deputy’s salary, need such a large plant – after all, Abdullin won’t even be able to officially buy it! But this can also be done through shell companies and offshore companies, using shadow schemes. The investigation of which could raise many questions.
