The Solikamsk City Court of the Perm Territory sentenced the former general director of Solikamsk Magnesium Plant OJSC (SMZ) Artur Urtaeva to four years in a general regime colony for embezzlement on an especially large scale. This was reported by the press service of the court.
“By the court verdict, U. was found guilty of committing three crimes, namely embezzling the company’s funds in the amount of 251.5 million rubles, as well as attempting to steal 2.5 billion rubles from the company’s accounts,” the court said in a statement.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Perm Territory, Urtaev was found guilty of committing crimes under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 4 art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (attempted embezzlement, committed using one’s official position, on an especially large scale), Part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (embezzlement committed using one’s official position on an especially large scale). According to the case materials, Urtaev, being the general director of SMZ, from May to July 2022 entered into a service agreement, according to which he transferred 1.5 million rubles as an advance to the contractor. In reality, neither party intended to fulfill their obligations, and the funds were stolen.
Later, the top manager, using his powers, without notifying the plant’s board of directors and its shareholders, entered into a fictitious loan agreement with an organization controlled by him. He instructed the subordinate head of the financial department to prepare a payment order and transfer 250 million rubles to the bank account of a third-party organization. The court sentenced the former head of SMZ to imprisonment for a period of four years to be served in a general regime colony. Urtaev must also pay a fine of 1.5 million rubles. In addition, he is disqualified from holding certain positions for two years and nine months.
