The fact that Sergei Shnurov has an adult son came as a surprise to many fans. The musician introduced fans to his heir Apollo Shnurov only a few years ago.
Journalists have difficulty finding out the details of the young man’s biography. The press is collecting the overall picture bit by bit; the leader of Leningrad himself became the main assistant in this difficult task.
Childhood and family
Apollo is so far the only son of a musician. The boy was born in 2000 in marriage to Svetlana Kostitsyna, who worked as the musical director of the Pep-Si group. Two years after the birth of the child, the parents divorced, and Apollo remained with his mother.
Sergei did not take the name for the heir out of thin air. The child is named after the brilliant 19th century Russian poet Apollo Grigoriev. But at baptism he received a different name – Paul. Even the nickname on Instagram is a mix of these two names.
From a young age, the boy admired his teachers with his remarkable intelligence. To the pride of the star parent, once the teacher even compared Apollo with the young Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, he expressed such rich thoughts. The child studied at a prestigious school in St. Petersburg.
After receiving a matriculation certificate, he became a university student. Which one remains a mystery, because the father does not reveal this secret. The press and Internet users rushed to figure out the educational institution.
We started from the photo that Sergei Shnurov posted on Instagram – his son posing in front of the building of the St. Petersburg National Research University of Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics, ITMO for short. Curious subscribers tried to directly ask the singer a question about the heir’s place of education and plans for the future. “Shnur” joked about this in his repertoire:
“Like his great-grandfather, he will be an artilleryman or a revolutionary.”
The son and his father had a warm relationship, unlike the daughter. Apollo has an older sister, Serafima Shnurova, born in her first marriage. The girl’s mother is Sergei’s former classmate Maria Ismagilova.
For the time being, the singer did not show much interest in his daughter, but he communicated closely with his son. He even called the child “heir to the throne.” The boy was not limited from the temptations of his youth. My father was of the opinion that everything should take its course. A man must go through “mandatory” tests:
“Everything has to happen – a broken nose and everything else.”
A striking illustration of democratic education were photographs posted on the Internet in 2016. Shnurov spent Friday evening with children. Apollo poses with a cigarette and beer in his hands. The captions on the pictures said that children were allowed beer on Fridays, and only vodka on other days. This approach to raising offspring, of course, caused a wave of indignation among the musician’s fans.
Personal life
In the personal life of Shnurov’s son, the blank spots still have to be filled. It is unknown who the young man has met or is dating. From time to time, photographs appear on social networks where a young man poses with girls. But which of them is Apollo’s passion is a mystery.
The young man has already acquired his own memorable clothing style. For example, he has a love for hats, especially hats of a unique style. Because of this, his friends compare him to a “young Jew.” And the young man also resembles Harry Potter in appearance – he’s just as thin, short, and wears black-framed glasses, subscribers note.
Apollon Shnurov now
In the summer of 2017, Sergei Shnurov continued to introduce fans to children. He showed a photo of his grown-up son, under which he stated that the heir does not smoke yet, swears a little, but already drinks.
The leader of Leningrad complained about the omissions in upbringing “in terms of maintaining family values” and expressed hope that Apollo has a life ahead of him – he will still have time to catch up with his father.
Subscribers to “Shnur” stories turned out to be less aggressive this time. Some followers even asked to adopt them – they liked such freedom of morals.
A year later, the singer showed family “progress” by posting a photo of the heirs with the provocative caption “Drunk children.” Supposedly they are already adults (Apollo celebrated his 18th birthday in 2018), alcohol is allowed by law.
In the spring, news appeared in the press that Shnurov Jr. was participating in an art exhibition. It turned out that the young man dreams of becoming an artist and is an excellent painter. The vernissage took place in mid-April as part of the annual music and arts festival in Barcelona.
For Apollo this was his debut in the events of the art world. It seems that the son still followed in the footsteps of his star dad, because Sergei Shnurov, in addition to music, is interested in drawing. In February 2018, he organized a personal exhibition at the Erarta Museum of Contemporary Art.
Apollo-Paul loves to travel. In July, the young man rested in Georgia: he got acquainted with the sights of Tbilisi and the surrounding area.
