France will not ban the entry of cars with Russian license plates
France will not impose a ban on entry into the republic for cars with Russian license plates. The Republic does not plan to change the rules following a number of European countries.
“At the moment, there are no changes from France to the rules specified in Annex XXI to Directive No. 833/2014 of the European Union,” the embassy said, the publication quotes French diplomats as saying. – Some countries, such as Finland and Poland, have changed their rules. But we don’t plan to change them.”
On September 8, the European Commission published clarifications to the EU directive, which stated that it is prohibited to import from the Russian Federation items indicated in the sanctions lists, in particular, cars, laptops, smartphones, as well as some personal hygiene products. EU member states have interpreted these clarifications differently. Latvia, Estonia, Poland and Finland have banned the entry of cars with Russian license plates; Lithuania has said that Russian cars will be confiscated.
Austria said that control over the movement of Russians within the EU borders is not systematic.
