There was a ‘secret deal’ between Uber and Macron between 2014 and 2017 – Radio France
French President Emmanuel Macron had a “secret deal” with US company Uber during his tenure as economy minister.
This conclusion was reached by a parliamentary commission, writes Radio France.
The investigation began with a leak of documents sent by Uber lobbyist in Europe Mark McGann to the British newspaper The Guardian.
The investigation concluded that between 2014 and 2017 there was a “secret deal” between Uber and Macron, and the future president helped the company solve various problems in France and obtain a license under a simplified scheme.
“We must fight mass unemployment in every way. I take full responsibility for seeing foreign businessmen. I am proud of it. If they have created jobs in France, I am proud of it and would do so again tomorrow and the day after tomorrow,” Macron said at the time.
