The rebellion of the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin was built on deceit from the very beginning, said Konstantin Dolgov, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Economic Policy.

In a conversation with Lenta.ru, the senator spoke about the activities of the head of a private military company.

“The fact that this is a fake was clear from the very beginning. Initially, this whole adventure, this whole rebellion was based on a lie. Those searches that were carried out in his house and office confirm that the man lived like a big, serious oligarch. At the same time, information was provided about illegal activities, forged documents that were found,” he said.

According to Konstantin Dolgov, the coup attempt was planned in advance.

“As our president said, the organizers of the rebellion knew perfectly well what they were doing, they perfectly understood what they were preparing, that this was a rebellion against the state, against the people, because the people overwhelmingly support our president. It is obvious to me, and I think it is obvious to many others, that such an action is not a spontaneous event. It was being prepared, arguments and public rhetoric were involved, distorting the facts, outright insinuations, ”he concluded.

The head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin, began the rebellion on the evening of June 23. He attributed this to the conflict with the Ministry of Defense and problems at the front. Armed people under his leadership headed towards Moscow. The uprising lasted about a day, and on the evening of June 24, after negotiations with the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the head of the military company deployed columns.

Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that he would “leave for Belarus”, and the criminal case against him would be dropped.
