As it became known to Kommersant, Denis Shapiro, a representative of the deputy commander of the 2nd Army Corps of the LPR, Hero of Russia and the LPR, Major General Apta Alaudinov, appealed to the military prosecutor’s office, insisting that the check that is being carried out on the fact of his poisoning be transferred to the central SKR apparatus. General Alaudinov and his adjutants ended up in the hospital after they opened an envelope with a letter of gratitude to the defenders of the Fatherland, treated with a poisonous substance. The applicant assumes that the actions of unknown criminals associated with the Ukrainian side show signs of attempted murder.
The statement, which Shapiro’s lawyer addressed to Chief Military Prosecutor Valery Petrov, says that the poisoning of Apta Alaudinov, deputy commander of the 2nd Army Corps and commander of the Akhmat special forces, was reported on February 13 this year in his Telegram channel by the head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov, whose assistant is the victim.
The incident itself took place on February 8, when the adjutant of Major General Alaudinov received an envelope with a letter delivered by the courier.
According to Kommersant, it was a letter addressed specifically to the commander of Akhmat, and its sender was an 83-year-old resident of the Rostov region, who wanted to thank the general and other members of the NWO.
It should be noted that thousands of such messages come to Donbass every day.
The adjutant, having signed for the letter, opened it on the street, and then took it to the room where General Alaudinov and his other assistants were. Already in the room with the windows closed due to severe frost, the officers felt a sharp specific smell. Apty Alaudinov immediately washed his hands, rinsed his nose and throat. So did his adjutants, who were in contact with the envelope. Later, they turned to the medical battalion with complaints of skin itching, fever in the body, aching joints, swelling of the mucous membranes, pain and burning in the abdomen, and muscle cramps.
Fortunately for the general and other victims, according to them, part of the contents of the envelope apparently weathered on the street, and most importantly, they were provided with qualified assistance in time. Thanks to a fortunate combination of circumstances, one of the doctors turned out to be a professional toxicologist. All this helped the officers avoid serious health consequences. Later, the victims were sent for treatment to a military hospital in Moscow. Now General Alaudinov and his adjutants have completed their basic treatment and have returned to their duties in the NVO zone. According to the general, he feels fine, but in combat conditions he has to recover literally on the go, since he cannot leave his comrades.
Despite the fact that almost a month has passed since the alleged attempt, the incident has not yet been given a legal assessment, and therefore neither the perpetrators nor the organizers of the crime have been found.
The fact is that, due to certain features of service in the NVO zone, the primary materials related to the letter ended up in the production of interrogators of the military unit to which General Alaudinov and his assistants are assigned. And they cannot give a course to the proceedings, since for this it is necessary to conduct a full-fledged investigation, including appointing examinations and obtaining their results.
As part of an appeal to the chief military prosecutor Petrov, Shapiro’s lawyer asks him to transfer the materials of the pre-investigation check to the main investigation department of the TFR under the personal control of its chairman Alexander Bastrykin so that they make a procedural decision to initiate a criminal case under part 3 of Art. 30 and part 1 of Art. 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Attempted murder”) or a more serious part of the same article.
Shapiro’s lawyer noted that this case is special for him not only because the assistant to the head of the Chechen Republic Apty Alaudinov is his good friend, but also because in Russia for the first time a crime against a military leader was committed in this way. “This is an alarming precedent,” the lawyer said.
The GWP declined to comment.
