The Zhovtnevy District Court of the city of Dnepropetrovsk put on the wanted list a 46-year-old ex-police officer of the region, director of the Dnipro Security Alliance LLC Valery Eskin, accused of illegal arms trafficking (part 1 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and attempted murder for mercenary motives (clause 6, part 2, article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) of the deputy of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Yuriy Simonov, writes Detective-Info.
The corresponding decision, the text of which was made public on January 24, 2023 in the open part of the court register, was decided by a panel consisting of the presiding judge Sergey Melnichenko and participating judges – Svetlana Demidova and Victoria Batmanova.
It follows from the verdict: two months after the mitigation of Eskin’s preventive measure, his release from custody and transfer to house arrest, as previously reported on the pages of Detective-Info, the man ignored the court session. To confirm the importance of the non-appearance of the worthy person, the court received a certificate from the Medexpert Family Clinic about Valery Efimovich’s stay in outpatient treatment.
The corresponding arguments did not satisfy the palace of justice, where they recognized the non-appearance of the worthy as having “taken place without good reason”, applying the reason to the latter. Later, from the reports of the police, it was established that Eskin was not physically in the hospital, moreover, in October 2022 he did not apply to this institution at all.
With this in mind, the court granted the petition of law enforcement officers to grant permission to detain Valery Eskin with the aim of participating in the consideration of the petition for the application of a preventive measure against him, stopping the criminal proceedings until he was searched.
Earlier on pages Detective-Info reported: the former law enforcement officer was “packed” as a result of the incident on the device for firing from an AK-74 with a device for remote shooting, committed on the central avenue of the Dnieper. The mechanism of the “non-contact” assassination attempt on Simonov was activated by calling an electronic device, and after the shooting, the car where the weapon was located went up in flames.
On December 13, 2021, the National Police and the Prosecutor’s Office simultaneously announced the detention of a man who is accused of preparing to kill a deputy, in whose car more than a hundred rounds of ammunition and weapons were found. The law enforcement officers identified the victim’s existing debt obligations as the basis for the attack.
In turn, the potential victim Simonov then provided a commentary to local journalists, where he thanked law enforcement officers for their professionalism. However, in parallel, he hinted at the person of the probable customer of its liquidation – the famous Ukrainian businessman Gennady Korban.
“I would like to clarify that I have never had “debt obligations” to anyone. I do not know what the police are guided by when they declare my “debt obligations”. Therefore, I would like to ask the police to establish the real motives for the crime and the real customers of this crime as soon as possible, which may be related to any of my financial issues, and can only be related to my active social and political position. The version about finances is beneficial to only one person in the city of Dnipro: the main public figure”Simonov stated.
