It is possible that she was on the new wanted list in connection with the initiation of a new criminal case against her. Perhaps it concerns the discrediting of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
Former lawyer of the Anti-Corruption Foundation *** (FBK; liquidated foreign agent, recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation and banned) Lyubov Sobol * first got into the wanted list of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs back in 2021. This happened against the background of the decision of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation to initiate a criminal case against the FBK * on the creation of an extremist community. However, in the wanted card itself, it was indicated only that the basis for it was a certain article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, without details. However, it was not possible to detain Sobol * – she left Russia before being put on the wanted list.
Then Lyubov Sobol was indignant that her photograph from the “hunger strike” was taken for the first search card (meaning the hunger strike in protest against the refusal to register for the Moscow City Duma elections in 2019).
The new card, found by the Octagon in the Interior Ministry database, contains a photo apparently unrelated to the diet.
At the same time, the old card is marked “Redeclared <...>. Remove the card.” Such wording often indicates, for example, an extension of the search procedure, but the cards themselves remain in the database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the same form. At the same time, additional profiles, like those of Sobol *, do not appear.
It is possible that the reason for such a “combo-search” for the emigrated Sobol * could be the initiation of another criminal case against her – possibly about discrediting the Russian army.
It is known that now Lyubov Sobol* appears in the case of the penetration into the apartment of the mother-in-law of the alleged poisoner Navalny**, as well as in the “sanitary case” (about inciting to violate sanitary and epidemiological rules at a protest in January 2021, which took place after the arrest of Alexei Navalny**). At first, the trials in these cases did not turn into a conclusion for her, but in the summer of 2021, Sobol * left Russia, and in June 2022, the court changed her punishment in the “housing case” from correctional labor to real time.
Currently, Navalny’s associates** are expanding the network of anti-corruption non-profit organizations in the United States, but they did not invite Lyubov Sobol* as the head of these structures.
