Putin’s daughters and a Belarusian who studied as an illegal immigrant at the Academy of the Foreign Intelligence Service: an investigation into safe houses was published
Journalists have released an investigation into the KGB safe houses that have existed since Soviet times and how they are used now.
The KGB in Moscow had hundreds of safe houses where they hid witnesses and held secret meetings. They were called “cuckoos” and were issued to non-existent people or to state-owned enterprises. After the abolition of the KGB, most of the “cuckoos” were taken by the FSB and the FSO, the rest went to the SVR (Russian Foreign Intelligence Service), reports The Insider.
According to the publication, Putin’s daughters, Maria and Ekaterina, lived in the safe houses of the SVR. Also, Russian spies expelled from the United States were hidden in several “cuckoos”, and students of the Academy of the Foreign Intelligence Service, who are being trained for work abroad, live in the rest.
For example, in one of them at the Moscow address: 25 Novinsky Boulevard, apt. 10 (former Tchaikovsky St.), once there was a KGB observation post behind the US Embassy. Operatives with special photographic equipment were on duty there day and night, and as soon as one of the American diplomats got behind the wheel, a KGB group followed. After the collapse of the USSR, since 1993, the living space passed to foreign intelligence, and a certain Stepanov V.A., who had no date of birth, no passport, no relatives, was registered as the owner. Secret meetings of SVR officers with recruited diplomats from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East began to take place there.
“In 2010, a barrier was installed at the entrance to the yard, and a luxurious renovation was done in the apartment. Soon tenants appeared – Putin’s eldest daughter Maria Vorontsova and her Dutch husband Jorrit Faassen. The couple communicated with each other in English, they were guarded around the clock by the Security Service of the President of the FSO, ”says The Insider.

In another “cuckoo”, on Mosfilmovskaya street, 17/25, lived Putin’s youngest daughter Ekaterina Tikhonova. During the “scoop”, the safe house was used for meetings with recruited teachers from RUDN University, MGIMO and Moscow State University. After the transfer to the SVR, the living space was registered in the name of I.N. Larionov, who, of course, does not have installation data, documents and a biography.
“Tikhonova lived on Mosfilmovskaya for a very short time, she soon moved to a mansion not far from Putin’s residence. Apparently, the reason for the move was drug addict neighbors and a series of burglaries that occurred in the house, ”the newspaper writes.
There were rumors about another “cuckoo”, at 8 Berezhkovskaya Embankment, that the FSB hid Edward Snowden, a defector from the NSA, who is facing a 30-year prison term in the United States. As The Insider found out, the safe house is located on the 9th floor and has been used by the KGB since the 1960s.
What else has been revealed?
The publication, among other things, became aware that after the collapse of the USSR, famous Russian spies lived in the cuckoos at different times, such as Anna Chapman (Kushchenko), Colonel of the SVR Mikhail Vasenkov, Andrei Bezrukov and his wife Elena Vavilova (after their extradition back to Russia from the United States, they were employed by the energy companies Rosneft and Norilsk Nickel by Putin’s decree) and others.
“The addresses of more than 16 apartments in different districts of Moscow have become known, which, by all their signs, look like a cuckoo. Moreover, it is known that one of them, on the street. Academician Bochvar was robbed. The criminals took out a laptop, a hard drive, a set of screwdrivers and 5,000 rubles. The victim turned out to be an employee of the KGB of Belarus Vladimir Bogoslavsky, who previously studied as an illegal immigrant at the Academy of the Foreign Intelligence Service, ”the journalists write.
