Harassment allegations, undeclared property and hundreds of traffic violations did not stop Leonid Slutsky become a successor Vladimir Zhirinovsky
On May 27, a congress of the LDPR will be held in Moscow, at which a new chairman of the party will be elected. With a high degree of probability, the place of the deceased from the coronavirus Vladimir Zhirinovsky will be occupied by the head of the faction in the State Duma, Leonid Slutsky. Today, he is best known as a member of the Russian delegation to the talks with Ukraine. But many began to forget about some of Slutsky’s “exploits”.
“You will be his wife, and my mistress”
“I don’t let go of my hands, well, if a little. <...> Throw a young man at *** and look in. The sooner you do this, the better. I’m ready to really help you.”
According to the BBC, these words belong to the future leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, State Duma deputy Leonid Slutsky. And they were uttered at the moment when he allegedly harassed a journalist Farida Rustamova – right in the office of the lower house of parliament.
Rustamova came to the deputy in March 2017 to ask for a comment on the visit to Russia of a French presidential candidate Marine Le Pen. At the same time, the journalist’s voice recorder was turned on and recorded the moment of harassment.
“Come on, hare, there will be a mood, look in, I missed you,” the BBC quoted Slutsky as saying, after which, according to Rustamova’s recollections, the politician sharply approached her, “swiped his hand, the inside of his palm, up my pubis.” And he offered to be his mistress.
It was the loudest scandal of 2018 in the State Duma. Then several more journalists accused Slutsky of harassment. In addition to Rustamova, they were the producer of the Dozhd TV channel * Daria Zhuk and host RTVi Ekaterina Kotrikadze. A number of media outlets then recalled their journalists from the State Duma, and some even announced a boycott of Slutsky.
The deputy did not apologize to the girls. Moreover, in his Facebook, he began to comment on the scandal in a mocking manner.
“Slow down, colleagues, where can I find so many journalists for you?” he wrote to his colleagues, who offered to “take on a couple of journalists.”
In the lower house, they supported the deputy, not the girls. The scandal gradually faded away, Slutsky did not suffer any punishment. Then it became clear that the odious politics patronize at the very top.
Many words, few deeds
Leonid Slutsky has been sitting in the State Duma since 1999, when he was elected to the chamber on the list of the Zhirinovsky Bloc association. Subsequently, he was re-elected already from the Liberal Democratic Party, began to work in the committee on international affairs. Nevertheless, in the first decade of the century, Slutsky was not remembered for anything in the State Duma – it is easy to verify by analyzing the media publications of that time. As follows from the archival data of Internet search engines, the deputy did not so much write bills as he was engaged in “international” and protecting Russia’s interests in PACE.
For example, in 2005 he criticized the devastating reports of the Council of Europe on Chechnya and Belarus (both received negative marks for the persecution of dissidents). But there were other examples as well. So, in 2006, the parliamentarian announced the possibility of Russia joining the economic sanctions against Iran because of its nuclear program. Who would have thought that 16 years later, Moscow would overtake Tehran in terms of the number of sanctions.
On his website, the parliamentarian takes credit for “multiple speeches” at environmental forums and the preparation of reports in PACE. But any deputy is, first of all, a lawmaker. Therefore, we decided to analyze how many bills the future leader of the Liberal Democratic Party introduced during his entire stay in the State Duma. The result was deplorable.
Since 1999, Slutsky has submitted only six bills to the State Duma; and all of them were written by a group of deputies. For example, the politician became a co-author of the so-called “Dima Yakovlev law”, which banned US citizens from adopting Russian children. Or another anti-Western bill restricting the import of products from “unfriendly” countries. The deputy himself has not introduced a single law for all 23 years.
Went through the woods
It is difficult to find anything sensational in Slutsky’s declaration. Judging by official documents, in 2021 the deputy earned 5.8 million rubles. His wife’s income Lydia Lyskova last year amounted to about 268 thousand rubles. According to Sobesednik, this is a pension with all social benefits.
Throughout the first half of the decade, Lyskova received approximately the same amount per year. Despite this, the woman somehow managed to save up for a Bentley Bentayga, which she bought in 2016. Judging by the data of the traffic police, the foreign car was new – literally from the assembly line (at that moment its price was 21–26 million rubles).
By the way, Lyskova registered her cars (according to her declaration, she has two of them) at the address Rublevskoye Highway, 14. There is a 74-meter apartment recorded on her, a 71-year-old pensioner. But this, of course, is not all the property of the Slutsky couple. The deputy owns a land plot with a residential building and three apartments. As usual, the country mansion is located on Rublyovka, or rather, in the village of Gorki-2.
Slutsky rents another plot (forest) with an area of 10.5 thousand square meters from the state. The lease expires on December 31, 2055. The deputy also rents a dacha. But the apartment on Goncharova Street in Moscow has been in his free and perpetual use since 1984. All this information is not in the open declaration. politicsbut is in its closed part, which (of course) is not published by the State Duma, but which we managed to get.
Unlike his wife, Slutsky himself does not have a car. Although a few years ago he traveled with might and main around Moscow in a luxury Maybach, regularly violating traffic rules. For which he was fined several hundred times, according to the archive data of the traffic police (the Interlocutor has it). Here, as they say, a complete set: unpaid parking, stopping under a prohibition sign, speeding. At some point, Slutsky’s car accelerated up to 147 km / h.
In April 2018, the deputy sold the car. Politician Alexey Navalny claimed that the deal was fictitious, because after the “sale” Slutsky was noticed several times next to the same Maybach. However, soon the foreign car changed its owner again, the Interlocutor established. They became a middle-class Moscow businessman Vladimir Mikhov, who changed his numbers to a car. However, a quick search on Google reveals that the Maybach continued to regularly park at the State Duma building after that. The photo from 2021 clearly shows that there is a corresponding pass on the windshield of a foreign car.
Daughter all in father
Leonid Slutsky does not like to talk about his personal life. However, it is known that politics have two daughters Lydia and Irina. The first was previously an active user of the TikTok service, where she posted videos about her luxurious life. Among other things, the girl spoke about life in an elite villa in Turkey and studying at a private school in Switzerland. She also regularly posted expensive things, accompanying them with signatures like Rich and “It’s good to be rich.” In one of the publications of the girl, Slutsky himself appeared, whom she called dad. After the account was discovered by journalists, Lydia deleted her page.
Much less is known about Irina. According to the Interlocutor, she was born in September 1991. Like her father, Irina graduated from Moscow State University economy and statistics (MESI). And until mid-2014, Slutskaya held the modest position of assistant editor-in-chief of the glossy magazine Harper’s Bazaar.
The girl is like her father in love for luxury foreign cars. She owns a Porsche Cayenne GTS. Like the dad-deputy, the daughter loves to ride recklessly on her iron horse. We counted almost six dozen fines issued to Irina Slutskaya over the past two years. The girl regularly exceeds the speed limit, violates the rules of parking and drives on the side of the road. The last time she was caught recklessly on the Rublevsky highway. Apparently, at that moment the deputy’s daughter was driving from her home in the Millennium Park cottage village. Such stars as Vera Brezhneva, Valery Meladze and Sergey Svetlakov live there. In general, you can’t forbid living beautifully. Especially if you are the daughter of the future leader of the Liberal Democratic Party.
