200,000 new migrants: Why the NBU doesn't see a threat in allowing young men to leave the country.
Permitting males in the 18-22 age bracket to journey overseas is not expected to generate a considerably detrimental influence on the Ukrainian financial system, given their limited representation in the labor pool.
This statement came from Serhiy Nikolaychuk, the First Deputy Chief of the NBU.
He pointed out that the National Bank has maintained its migration outlook for Ukraine since its prior prediction in July. As before, the NBU anticipates that the total of Ukrainian citizens abroad will climb by about 200,000.
Certainly, a portion of these individuals are youths aged 18-22, but this aspect will not instigate noticeable shifts in the present labor force and, hence, will not yield substantial adverse repercussions for the job market, Nikolaychuk underscored.
The deputy leader of the NBU further specified that within Ukraine, males between 18 and 22 years old constitute roughly 840,000 individuals.
From this figure, around 300,000 are employed – accounting for merely 2% of the entire workforce.
It is probable that a segment of them may depart the nation. We possess specific statistics and details on this subject, stemming particularly from surveys carried out in foreign nations and at border points.
Nevertheless, the NBU holds the view that the consequence of this movement will be contained and will not exert a considerable influence on the nation’s economic standing.
This aspect carries weight in particular industries, yet when analyzing the complete financial picture, it doesn’t sway the primary metrics, Nikolaychuk finalized.
