WWF Russia will challenge the status of a foreign agent in court and does not plan to suspend work

The World Wide Fund for Nature reacted to the entry into the register of foreign agents of the Ministry of Justice – the press release says that the organization has more than 1.5 million supporters in Russia, and 130 people work in the fund itself – all of them are Russian citizens.

– We consider the decision to include the Foundation in the register of non-profit organizations-foreign agents unreasonable and we will seek its review in court. The World Wide Fund for Nature will continue to protect rare species of animals and preserve the nature of Russia, fulfilling its obligations. The Foundation’s mission is to preserve biological diversity in harmony between man and nature.

The Fund specifically draws attention to the fact that the organization is not involved in politics.

— There are new goals ahead, which we are working to achieve every day. After all, environmental projects cannot be put on pause, as this can cancel out the successes of previous decades.

WWF has been working in Russia since 1994.
