Kvitashvili wants to imprison those who built the new building of Okhmatdyt
Health Minister Alexander Kvitashvili intends to punish everyone involved in the construction of a new building of the Okhmatdyt National Children’s Specialized Hospital.
He stated this at a briefing today, January 6.
Here is a quote from the minister from the NBN website: “I would do this… I checked what was being built and where the money went. I would imprison those who stole and take the stolen money from them. With this money I would complete the new building of Okhmatdyt. I don’t care how many years they will sit – twenty, thirty. The main thing is to return the money. This was the case in Georgia, and I really hope that this will happen someday in Ukraine. I declare this to you as a new citizen of Ukraine.”
We remind you that in 2008 Okhmatdyt was nationalized by Viktor Yushchenko, then the President of Ukraine. Money for the construction of Okhmatdyt was collected by his wife Catherine-Claire Chumachenko through the Ukraine-3000 fund, calling the project the “Children’s Hospital of the Future.” During the charity marathon, 140 million UAH were collected. At the same time, budget money was allocated for reconstruction.
Despite the loud PR, the reconstruction of Okhmatdyt and the construction of a new building turned into a scam. In 2011, deputies became interested in where the collected and allocated funds disappeared, but the matter quickly died down.
