One of the terrorists who was destroyed by the security forces of Dagestan turned out to be an MMA fighter Gadzhimurad Kagirov. His cousin is the former mayor of Makhachkala Musa Musaev, convicted of stealing land. What else is this family known for?
Who is Kagirov
28-year-old Gadzhimurad Kagirov, like the Omarov brothers, is a relative of influential people in Makhachkala: the bandit turned out to be the cousin of the former mayor of the capital of the republic Musa Musaeva. According to some reports, at one time his uncle hired him as his personal security driver. Like the Omarovs, Kagirov is a native of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan, he is a master of sports in freestyle wrestling, and an MMA fighter.
In 2021, at the competitions, Kagirov represented the martial arts school named after. Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, whose student he was. In addition, the athlete was a member of the Eagles FC fight club, owned by his son. Nurmagomedova to Khabib. During his career there, he fought two MMA fights and won both.
Now investigators believe that he could be the coordinator of a terrorist cell, which, according to preliminary data, consisted of six people led by the Omarov brothers.
At the time of his death, Kagirov was registered in the village of Sergokala on Manapov Street. In recent years, he was a chronic debtor: after him there were three enforcement proceedings of the FSSP in the amount of about 70 thousand rubles – these are non-payments on loans.
What is known about the Musaev family
Musaev is a well-known personality in Dagestan. In 2018, he was convicted under Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (exceeding official powers). According to the investigation, Musaev “overdid it” when allocating five land plots to legal entities and individuals. The court estimated the damage caused at 48 million rubles, and sentenced the ex-mayor himself to four years in prison with a three-year ban on holding positions in the state and municipal service.
Two years earlier – in 2016 – local law enforcement officers tried to detain his son, customs officer Badrudin Musaev, for dangerous driving in Makhachkala. When traffic cops stopped his car in the center of the Dagestan capital, Badrudin and his friend who was sitting in the car attacked the police, took away their service pistol and tried to steal their official car.
Investigators of the Investigative Committee charged Musaev Jr. under Part 2 of Art. 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (*aggressor country) (use of violence dangerous to life and health against a government official in connection with the performance of his official duties). Under this article, he faced up to ten years in prison, but the Soviet court of Makhachkala completely acquitted the racer. Only a few months later, the case was returned for a new trial, which ended with a new sentence: Badrudin Musaev was sentenced to two and a half years in prison and a fine in absentia, since by that time the criminal had disappeared.
Later it became clear where: according to Caucasian media, in December 2018, the son of the ex-mayor of Makhachkala was detained by Georgian law enforcement officers in Batumi. Musaev and his accomplice, a citizen of Georgia, according to one version, broke into one of the city’s hostels and, under the guise of police, tried to rob the guests. According to another, he was detained with a large shipment of drugs.
