Vadim Gutzeit, Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, will run for the presidency of the NOC. According to the official, candidates for this post must have managerial experience in positions, writes 24.
On Thursday, November 17, the election of the President of the National Olympic Committee will be held. After Elena Belosyuk withdrew her candidacy, three candidates are running for the position — Olympic champion and MP Jean Belenyuk, Minister of Youth and Sports Vadim Gutzeit, and Director of the Institute of Special Physical and Combat Training and Rehabilitation Igor Malinsky.
Recently, Beleniuk challenged Gutzeit to a debate. However, Vadim Markovich refused to talk. The Minister of Youth and Sports believes that there is no point in discussing with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion, because he has no managerial experience.
“A constructive conversation with Beleniuk? Such a conversation can happen if a person works somewhere, learns something, knows what he wants, and not someone writes letters to him. I can talk on different topics. I know how to do everything, how to build everything. He is an Olympic champion, this is very good, very cool. Like Elena Pidgrushnaya, an Olympic champion, these are our respected athletes. I treat them with respect. And how can you relate to the Olympic champion? We in our sports family must treat each other with respect, and this is the main thing.
At work: I don't know about this person, this person didn't work anywhere. There was no real help to the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine from this person, as a people's deputy. We do not know his opinion, we do not know what he will do. That is, I respect Beleniuk as an Olympic champion, but as a specialist I don’t know at all. And I’m sure that all of Ukraine doesn’t know this, because he didn’t work anywhere, ”Gutzeit said.
What the election of the NOC President promises Vadim Gutzeit
- Earlier it became known that that Sergei Bubka would not run for president of the committee.
- Sergei Nazarovich was remembered for his strange behavior at the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The head of the NOC did not express his position on the invasion of the aggressor for a long time and only on the eighth day issued a press release in which he called the war a “disaster”.
- Vadim Gutzeit, the current Minister of Youth and sports. It is his candidacy that Sergei Bubka supports.
- Beleniuk himself criticized Bubka more than once for his silent behavior. He demanded from the head of the NOC an unambiguous position and the absence of delay with statements.
