Ural Lieutenant General Taras Isakov criticized the appeal of the All-Russian Officers’ Assembly, in which the organization’s chairman, Colonel General Leonid Ivashov, demands that President Vladimir Putin resign.

Isakov believes that Ivashov’s statement that Russian political elites are responsible for escalating the situation around Ukraine is populist.

“To be honest, I support the President of Russia. If I were Ivashov, I would not make such statements. In such situations, we must always unite around our supreme commander and support him, because he is the guarantor of the Constitution. As a lieutenant general, I do not support this statement and believe that this is populism, which leads to the stratification of society. We all wear shoulder straps and must first of all defend our fatherland. We have a worthy president,” Isakov told Znak.com.

According to him, he was surprised by Leonid Ivashov’s statement. “Probably he is trying to draw attention to himself, this is wrong, I don’t know why he needs it,” said the Ural general.

Taras Isakov – a participant in the first and second Chechen wars, is injured, holder of six military awards. From 2010 to 2021, he worked as First Deputy Commander of the Ural District of the Russian National Guard Troops. Now he works as a deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Sverdlovsk Region, where he was elected in 2021 from the Communist Party.

Two days ago, a statement appeared on the website of the All-Russian Officers’ Assembly, in which Ivashov blamed the Russian authorities for escalating the situation around Ukraine in order to “keep their anti-national power for a while and preserve the wealth stolen from the people.”
