The Kuzminsky District Court of Moscow sentenced Andrey Levakov, the former technical director of the Center macroregional branch of Rostelecom PJSC, to six years in prison in a strict regime colony and a fine of 25.3 million rubles, the press service of the court told Vedomosti. Judge Olga Sobol found him guilty on charges of bribery on an especially large scale (part 6 of article 290 of the Criminal Code) and commercial bribery (part 3 of article 204 of the Criminal Code).
On account of the fine, the court ruled to turn part of Levakov’s seized property, including cash and funds in bank accounts in the amount of more than 100 million rubles.
The case was investigated by employees of the central office of the Investigative Committee. As stated in the press service of the department, Levakov received 15 million rubles. as a commercial bribery and a bribe for organizing purchases for the needs of MRF Center of Chinese-made industrial batteries, when he held senior positions at Center-Telecom OJSC and Rostelecom PJSC.
As Kommersant previously found out, the basis for the criminal case against Levakov was the testimony of Huang Jianmin, a Chinese businessman from Ufa, who was convicted of attempting to bribe an FSB officer and entered into a pre-trial cooperation agreement. In the summer of 2020, Jianmin, whose company Galaktika specialized in the supply of batteries and electrical equipment, was caught red-handed while transferring 2 million rubles. local FSB officer. For this money, the Chinese citizen was counting on the assistance of the special services in stopping the inspection of his company, as well as the destruction of information on the laptop seized from him.
Jianmin fully admitted his guilt and petitioned for the conclusion of a pre-trial cooperation agreement with him, under which he reported the bribes to Levakov. The case was immediately transferred to the central office of the TFR.
Levakov pleaded not guilty. The representative of the defense, in an interview with Vedomosti, said that he intended to appeal the verdict. According to the lawyers, the entire charge was built solely on the testimony of Jianmin, and the actions for which, according to the investigation, the money was transferred, were not included in the powers of Levakov. However, the court considered the evidence collected by the investigation sufficient for a guilty verdict.
