They wanted to oblige Russian diplomats to speak only Russian abroad
Russian legislators and diplomats should communicate only in Russian during business trips abroad, State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev believes.
He stated this in an interview with RIA Novosti.
According to the politician, they should also speak Russian at negotiations and in conversation with “representatives of unfriendly countries.” “I consider it expedient that <...> under cameras, our deputies, legislators at all levels, diplomats at all international venues, in communication with the press, speak only in Russian,” he said.
Khamzaev cited the example of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is building “a dialogue from the standpoint of strengthening the Russian language and our sovereignty in the world.”
