The World Bank is preparing a package of financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of $3 billion

The World Bank (WB) is set to provide Ukraine with a $3 billion bailout package, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is studying the country’s request for emergency funding, their joint venture says. statement. The entire amount of assistance will be provided in the coming months, the first tranches will amount to $350 million (for budget support) and $200 (for healthcare restoration).

“At the WB, we are preparing a $3 billion support package in the coming months, starting with a fast-disbursing budget support operation of at least $350 million, which will be submitted to the Board of Directors for approval this week, followed by support in health and education in the amount of $200 million with rapid disbursement of funds,” WB President David Malpas said in a statement.

“Our institutions are working together to support Ukraine in the area of ​​funding … and are urgently increasing support in this regard. We are in daily contact with the authorities about the crisis measures,” said IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. She noted that consideration of the issue of providing assistance could be scheduled as early as next week.

In a statement, the heads of the World Bank and the IMF expressed sympathy and support for the Ukrainians, stressed that because of the hostilities, as well as the sanctions imposed after they began, the economies of many countries are suffering.
