Police officers from St. Petersburg detained a resident of Novorossiysk suspected of stealing money from officials and heads of organizations by imitating the voice of their superiors.
This was reported to Lente.ru by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk.
The man called civil servants, parodied the voices of representatives of higher departments and asked to send money on credit to his account. One of the victims was the deputy director of a state institution of additional professional education from Moscow, the other was the head of the regional department of Rosselkhoznadzor. The total damage amounted to more than 165 thousand rubles.
“Preparing for such calls, the swindler studied the structure of the authorities, found video and audio materials in open sources and copied the manner of communication of the persons whose names he presented himself in the future, achieving a high degree of similarity,” said Irina Volk.
During the search, the Russians seized SIM cards, phones and bank cards. Now he is in jail.
