The State Duma allowed a transitional period with an increase in the draft age

With an increase in the draft age from 18 to 21 years in Russia, a transitional period may be envisaged.

This opinion was expressed on the air of the RBC TV channel by the head of the State Duma Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov.

Commenting on his opinion, he pointed out that now, presumably, the Ministry of Defense is working on the relevant proposals.

“After the entire legislative package is formed, that is, the legislative basis is created, then the relevant laws and orders of the Minister of Defense, directives of the General Staff will be issued, which will explain the procedure for conscription <...>, what the transition period will be determined, how long it will be on time, ”he added, refusing to talk about any kind of time frame.
