The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Stavropol resident Viktor Bachinin to 10 years in prison in the case of participation in the “Right Sector” and preparations for terrorist act. Mediazone was informed about this in the press service of the court.

Bachinin will spend the first three years in prison, the remaining term – in a correctional colony of strict regime. He was also fined 210,000 rubles.

According to the case file, the man was found guilty of illegal possession of explosives (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code), participation in the activities of an extremist organization (Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), inducement to participate in such an organization (Part 1.1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code), attempted murder manufacture of explosives (part 3 of article 30; part 1 of article 223.1 of the Criminal Code) and preparation for a terrorist attack (part 1 of article 30; part 1 of article 205 of the Criminal Code).

According to investigators, in January last year, while in the city of Mikhailovsk, Stavropol Territory, Bachinin found an electric detonator and a TNT bomb and took them to the basement. A month later, security officials believe, he joined the Right Sector, which is recognized in Russia as an extremist organization. The court found that the man also persuaded another person to participate in the activities of the Right Sector.

In addition, the press service of the court told Mediazone that in March 2022, Bachinin studied the instructions for assembling an improvised explosive device and purchased the components. According to the investigation, the man started manufacturing SMU, but did not complete what he started, as he was detained.
