“Strong smoke is coming from the Expo building. Fire trucks are rushing to the scene,” said an eyewitness to the fire.
In the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) for the Sverdlovsk region commented information about the fire at Ekaterinburg-Expo. “The arriving fire and rescue units found that a refrigeration unit on the roof of the building was burning in an area of 20 square meters. At 10:22 p.m., firefighters localized the fire, and at 10:30 p.m., the open fire was extinguished. 40 personnel and 13 units of fire and rescue equipment are working at the fire site. There was no information about casualties,” the department told a URA.RU correspondent.
“All operational services worked perfectly and harmoniously. The technical fire-fighting equipment of the site also showed its maximum reliability,” a high-ranking employee of Ekaterinburg-Expo told URA.RU.
