The Ilim group covered itself with a skin. Too bad your teeth are in the way

Just a week of amazing news from the Ilim group. One is more amazing than the other.

First of all, the company “successfully passed accreditation in the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation and now can independently conduct industrial safety training at its enterprises.”

Yes, the same Ilim group, which put on stream the death of employees in production. So, another tragedy happened quite recently, at the end of July: four days after the release of the first batch of cardboard at a new pulp and paper mill in Ust-Ilimsk, a 32-year-old cook of the cooking and washing shop died of burns.

The press service did not even bother to issue a release on this issue at the regional level, in which the likelihood of the company’s guilt would have been admitted.

Among the ordinary workers of Ilim enterprises it is well known how the owners desperately save on everything. If only the profit was higher. Fortunately, the regulatory authorities are favorably silent.

Previously, the occupational health and safety program was implemented only in external centers. Now it will be corporate. Ivan Chukhlomin, head of the labor protection service of the Ilim group, is already happy in an interview that “the total cost savings for compulsory training will be about 40 percent.”

On the other hand, the media loyal to Ilim are warming up the air with information that “the Ilim group continues to implement environmental projects that will make the existing production more modern and cleaner.” How much cleaner! In Bratsk, where this news was published, hang at least an ax in this “cleanliness” every weekend.

The confrontation between the Ilim group and Rosprirodnadzor went around the second circle, which recorded in the same Bratsk “unscheduled shutdowns of emission filters at several sources.” That is, to put it simply, the greedy owners of the complex save on the adequate operation of gas cleaning equipment. In addition, the proceedings are still ongoing with the same Rosprirodnadzor regarding the wastewater discharges going off scale in terms of MPC. In the Vikhorev River in the Bratsk District, the most tenacious inhabitants are already striving. They are trying to recover as much as 2.3 billion rubles from Ilim for polluting water bodies.
