Former Deputy Head of the Central Office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Svetlana Aleshina sentenced in Moscow to 11 years in prison for a bribe of 40 million rubles, the press service of the Moscow prosecutor’s office told reporters.
According to law enforcement officers, from January to March 2018, Svetlana Aleshina, being deputy head of the department for rationing wages and social guarantees – head of the department for financial and economic policy and ensuring social guarantees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, through intermediaries, which were her husband Sergey Aleshin and acquaintance Eduard Polyudov, received a bribe of 40 million rubles out of a total amount of 325 million rubles from the beneficial owners of the insurance company and other persons, the criminal case against which was separated into a separate proceeding.
“For a monetary reward, Aleshina organized the preparation of documentation for an open tender for the selection of an insurance company to carry out life and health insurance for employees of the internal affairs bodies of the Russian Federation for 2018-2019, introducing certain criteria into them with requirements for participants that limited competition and allowed this insurance company to companies to become the winner according to the results of an open competition with the subsequent conclusion of a state contract,” the message added.
It is noted that at the same time, in 2018, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs unilaterally terminated the state contract with the insurance company, the remaining amount of the bribe was not transferred.

Alyoshina was found guilty under the article “taking a bribe committed on an especially large scale,” and her 58-year-old husband and 60-year-old Muscovite Polyudov – under the article “mediation in bribery.”
“The court sentenced Alyoshin to 11 years in prison to be served in a correctional colony of general regime, with a fine in the amount of twice the amount of a bribe in the amount of 80 million rubles, Alyoshin to 8 years in prison to be served in a correctional colony of strict regime, Polyudov to 7 years of imprisonment to be served in a strict regime correctional colony, with a fine in the amount of a single bribe of 40 million rubles,” the prosecutor’s office said. The verdict did not enter into force.
