Aseev said he would appeal the verdict. “There was no trial,” he said.

RIA Novosti, 06/14/2023, “The ex-head of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was sentenced in a fraud case”: Aseev refused to plead guilty to committing a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed using his official position on an especially large scale), saying that he categorically disagrees with the verdict and will appeal it.

After the guilty verdict in the case of fraud, he told reporters that he was counting on an acquittal and intends to appeal against it “in all instances”, as he considers the verdict illegal, unreasonable and unfair. “We will prepare an appeal, there will probably not be the first instance, there will be a cassation appeal to the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. So we will still fight,” he added. — Inset K.ru

The prosecution asked the court to find the academician guilty under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud committed using his official position on an especially large scale) and sentence him to five years of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 3 years with a fine of 500 thousand rubles. The defense asked him to be acquitted.

According to the investigation, in 2009-2010, Aseev, while holding the post of chairman of the SB RAS, convinced the members of the presidium of the SB RAS to reconstruct and provide him with a cottage for official use – as a representative residence. After an expensive repair, Aseev entered into rental agreements for this residential premises in 2013, and in 2015, by submitting false documents to the Sovetsky District Court of Novosibirsk, he privatized the property in favor of his daughter, who lived at that time in France, according to the case file. The academician himself, according to the investigation, had no right to improve his living conditions.

rberega.info, 11/23/2020, “Academician Aseev’s cottage: privatization is legal, but not a social contract of employment”: Last week, Academician Alexander Aseev gave interview “Continent Siberia online”, in which he outlined his vision of the situation with the privatization of his daughter Olga Aseeva cottage on the street. Maltsev, 16. […] In an interview, Alexander Aseev calls to take as a base not the market value of the cottage, but the cost of it from the budget of the SB RAS, that is, the Russian Federation. True, for some reason he evaluates his apartment according to the reverse scheme – at the CURRENT market value, and not at the price for which he bought it. So, an “expensive apartment” with a total area of 154 sq. m in the prestigious Akademgorodok, he bought for about 1.8 million rubles. For comparison: I live in the Shch microdistrict next to the town in a panel “kopeck piece” with an area of 43 square meters. m – it costs about 2.4 million rubles.

As a result of an incomparable comparison, it turns out that Alexander Leonidovich compensated 13 million budget rubles for 1.8 million rubles from his own pocket, and not 30 million rubles, which he mentions in an interview. Regarding the non-commercial partnership “Academzhilstroy-1”. It acted as a customer for the construction of a residential complex of six multi-storey buildings at the intersection of Tereshkova Street and Koptyuga Avenue. The proceeds from the sale of part of the apartments, NP “AZhS-1” was to be used to improve the living conditions of the employees of the SB RAS. Formally, Academzhilstroy-1 did not violate its obligations: Alexander Aseev was indeed an employee of the SB RAS, and he really improved his living conditions – 600 sq. m of the total area of the cottage is better than 140 sq. m in the apartment. And, by the way, not 14, but 17 million rubles were allocated from NP “AZhS-1” for the construction of the cottage of the Aseev family. — Inset K.ru

The criminal case against Aseev was initiated in September 2020. The investigation estimated the damage to the state at almost 46 million rubles.

Earlier, Aseev also repeatedly declared his innocence.

Aseev headed the SB RAS in 2008-2017.

Kommersant.Ru, 04/24/2023, “Academician was reminded of a cottage”: Lawyer Gennady Shishebarov believes that the prosecutor’s office did not prove the charge against Alexander Aseev, and also did not refute the arguments of the defense given in his acquittal. […] The lawyer noted that Alexander Aseev donated to the ownership of the Russian Federation a 4-room apartment with an area of about 137 square meters belonging to him and his wife. m in an elite house on Akademika Koptyug Avenue in Akademgorodok. […]

The defender added that the investigation kept silent about the fact that the Aseev couple donated an expensive apartment to the state. […] The lawyer drew attention to the fact that in 2014-2015 scientists and members of their families privatized 30 office cottages and 53 office apartments in the Novosibirsk Akademgorodok. No one, except for the Aseev spouses, says the defender, did not give anything to the state during the privatization of cottages and apartments. […]
