In Moscow, the former general director of the Elektrozavod holding company (now part of AFK Sistema) Leonid Makarevich. The investigation accuses the ex-head of the enterprise, who went on the run, of embezzling about 2 billion rubles during the implementation of a state contract for the supply of power cables for the Novaya electrical substation. Earlier, Makarevich’s sister Natalya Makarevich, who headed the department of financial control and analysis at Elektrozavod, was sent under house arrest in this case.
As the Kommersant newspaper found out, Leonid Makarevich, the former general director of the Elektrozavod holding company (now part of AFK Sistema), was arrested in Moscow in absentia for two months from the moment of detention. To achieve such a measure of restraint against 62-year-old Makarevich, the capital’s police managed only on the second attempt. The first, which turned out to be unsuccessful due to procedural violations, they took in July of this year, the newspaper notes.
The criminal case on especially large-scale fraud (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), in which Makarevich, who headed Elektrozavod from 1994 to 2021, became a defendant, was initiated on January 11, 2016, and the events in question took place in 2011-2012.
According to the investigation cited by Kommersant, in 2010 Elektrozavod signed a contract with JSC United Energy Company (owned by the Moscow government) for the construction of the Novaya electrical substation in Moscow [прим BigpowerNews — начало работ: 1 квартал 2010 года, введена в строй 5 августа 2014 года]. Kommersant notes that the employees of the enterprise called Elektrozavod itself the Makarevich family business, since in addition to Leonid and Natalya Makarevich, many of their relatives allegedly worked there in senior positions.
In April 2022, Leonid Makarevich was put on the wanted list, and at the same time his alleged accomplice Natalya Makarevich, who headed the department of financial control and analysis at Elektrozavod, was detained. According to Kommersant, she does not admit her guilt.
