The deputy who recorded the video from Mexico did not comment on his resignation
Deputy Maxim Vasiliev, whose video greetings were circulated on social networks at the end of December while on vacation in Mexico, reacted to the deprivation of his post in the Kursk Regional Duma.
In a conversation with Lenta.ru, he stated that he would not comment on messages on this topic.
“No comment so far,” the politician said.
Earlier, the governor of the Russian region Roman Starovoit said that Maxim Vasilyev had resigned as deputy chairman of the permanent committee of the Kursk Regional Duma on budget, taxes and economic development. At the same time, local media reported that there was no talk of resigning the deputy.
The scandal surrounding the Kursk deputy began to gain momentum in December 2022. Then a video was published on the network, in which Vasiliev drinks cocktails on the beach with the words: “A lot of money. Lots of good vibes. Happy New Year!” He blamed the Ukrainian for the appearance of the video on the network.
Vasiliev apologized for his act after being criticized by Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Secretary of the General Council of the United Russia party Andrei Turchak and Governor Starovoit. He was given a warning in the regional council.
