Giorgi Kiladze escaped. And no one answered for it
The Mensky District Court of the Chernihiv Region released from criminal liability the 1st Deputy Head of the State Institution “Menskaya Correctional Colony” No. 91 – Deputy Head of the Institution for Supervision and Security, Protection and Operational Work Gennady Balabatko, who was charged with complicity in escaping from custody (Part 1 393 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) 30-year-old Georgian citizen Giorgi Kiladze, who is known in the status of the so-called thief in law, nicknamed “Gega Ozurgeti”. The corresponding decision, the text of which was published on January 24, 2023 in the open part of the court register, was decided by the minister of Themis Oksana Parfenenko, writes Detective-Info.
It follows from the text of the verdict that the judge granted the petition of Balabatko’s lawyers to close the criminal proceedings against the official in connection with his transfer to the bail of the labor collective of the correctional colony (based on Article 47 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The jailers expressed such an initiative following the results of the general meeting of the employees of the institution, which took place on September 26, 2022. According to their protocol, more than 150 employees unanimously voted for bailing the deputy head of the institution for supervision and security, protection and operational work of the Minsk Correctional Colony No. 91. In order not to be held accountable in the future, Gennady Valerievich undertakes to justify the trust of his colleagues during the year, and also not to evade educational measures and not violate public order.
Earlier on pages Detective-Info reported: the suspicion of facilitating the scandalous escape from the state institution “Minsk Correctional Colony No. 91” of the criminal general “Gegi Ozurgeti” Gennady Balabatko was officially put forward in the summer of 2022. This was preceded by the detention in mid-March last year of a thief in law – a fugitive in the Vinnitsa region.
Then Kiladze (who had already been sentenced to 7.5 years in prison and suspected of spreading criminal influence) was “packed” while trying to cross the border with the Republic of Moldova. Based on the results of the flight, as already reported on the pages of Detective-Info, the thief in law was charged with a new episode of criminal victories.

As it was established by the security forces, the first deputy head of the institution Gennady Balabatko really helped the worthy man to leave the walls of the Minsk colony without hindrance. This was preceded by the start of a large-scale military invasion of the Russian army into the territory of Ukraine and the adoption in the afternoon of February 26, 2022 by the Chernihiv jailers of a decision “on the transfer of convicts and persons in custody to a safe place located on the territory of the correctional institution.”
Like, that’s why the thief in law “Gega Ozurgeti” left the cell and ended up on the central alley of the correctional facility in front of checkpoint No. 2. Balabatko was also here, who, on the basis of the “generated list of those convicted for pardon”, sent to the Office of the President of Ukraine , as well as statements of convicts and prisoners on voluntary entry into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, was responsible for the checkpoint regime for the release of convicts from the territory of the correctional colony. But at about 22 pm (after the release of all convicts and prisoners who expressed a desire to participate in hostilities to repel the armed aggression of the Russian Federation), he instructed the head of the guard on duty of the security department to additionally pass Kiladze through checkpoint No. 2.
After that, the criminal general flashed his heels and materialized in the focus of attention of the security forces by the evening of March 13, 2022, 600 kilometers away – in the city of Mogilev-Podolsky.
