The defendants in the criminal case of fraud with the assets of the Vostochnaya Verf shipyard in Primorye were left in custody
The coercive measure chosen by the court against the ex-prosecutor of the region Valery Vasilenko and public adviser to the director of the joint-stock company Sergei Kralevich will be in effect until October 10 this year.
According to the investigation, Mr. Vasilenko, while holding the post of deputy chairman of the board of directors of JSC Vostochnaya Verf, illegally tried to obtain securities of a shipbuilding enterprise owned by one of the minority shareholders. To do this, he attracted the local crime boss Vitaly Shirokov, nicknamed Mongol. The latter, according to a number of media reports, is also under arrest.
It must be said that the criminal actions of Valery Vasilenko were not limited to intimidation of people who own small shares of the shipyard’s shares. The former prosecutor, together with the chairman of the board of directors of the enterprise, and almost 40% of the shares are controlled in the past by the deputy of the Legislative Assembly of Primorye Gennady Lazarev, who is now abroad, planned to stop fulfilling the defense order, to lease the property and land of the enterprise. The bad faith of the management, among other things, put Vostochnaya Verf on the verge of bankruptcy. However, the main reason for the problems that have begun is Western sanctions. Almost a year ago, the joint-stock company applied to the Primorsky Territory Arbitration Court with a statement to recognize its economic insolvency.
Numerous creditors also sent financial claims to the enterprise, including Askold JSC, Promsvyazbank OJSC, Industrika LLC. There is information that the shipyard owes from 8 to 12 billion rubles. Now the shipyard works mainly with civil orders. To bring it out of the crisis, a large state investor in the person of the United Shipbuilding Corporation can be attracted. Note that last week it became known about personnel changes in the company. Thus, Andrey Kostin, head of VTB, headed the board of directors of USC. And Andrey Puchkov, who previously worked as First Deputy President of VneshTorgBank, became the new General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.
