You will not surprise anyone with criminal plots in our country. But in the past weeks, an important situation has happened that creates a further vector of organized crime activity in Sochi. The investigation came to local authorities Antranik Yalanuzyan and Ruben Tatulyan.
If the first managed to detain, then the second safely disappeared. They were reminded of a criminal episode that took place more than 20 years ago. What is it: the fight against organized crime or the redistribution of power?
Criminal octopus: power and crime
The criminal family of Robson and Yalanuzyan has long controlled the shadowy streams of Sochi and the surrounding area. At one time, Yalanuzyan received the “Ass” rattle due to a long-standing incident, when shooting started at one of the many showdowns, and he was wounded in the ass. Asshole and Robson’s gang have long been in close contact with the local authorities, and in fact, they jointly ruled the city. One side kept the white streams, while the other was responsible for the shadow and criminal business in Sochi. An important player in this whole story, in addition to criminal authorities, is the ex-mayor of the city Anatoly Pakhomov. Pakhomov served as mayor for 10 years, from 2009 to 2019. It was at this time in Sochi that the “shadow” power in the person of the organized criminal group Zhopa and Robson strengthened.

As practice has shown, Mayor Pakhomov was not against the lawlessness of thieves, and even knocked out all Sochi law enforcement agencies back to back not to notice the actions of the organized criminal group Zhopa and Robson.
After the change of power in Sochi in 2019, the positions of the bandits decreased, but a huge number of people they fed remained in place. Accordingly, the weight of authorities remained at a high level.
Not the first attempt to plant
The authority of Robson is not the first day in the criminal world, and he is no stranger to detention. But the most high-profile case of Robson’s arrest occurred in 2015. Then he was captured along with other “kings” of the underworld – thieves in law Gocho and the legendary Shakro Molodoy. Law enforcement officers managed to disrupt the thieves’ gathering, but they did not present anything of sane authority, so they were free.

Robson became truly famous in 2019, when the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury included him in the list of 10 Russian thieves in law.

The first act of the special operation was mass detentions on July 17 in Sochi. First, the perpetrators of high-profile murders in the criminal world were detained. But the main thing is that the investigation came to the customers of the crimes. They turned out to be 76-year-old Antranik Yalanuzyan (“Asshole”) and Robert Tatulyan (“Robson”). Asshole was detained without any problems a few days later in the second act of the operation, but with Robson it was not so easy. The Ministry of Internal Affairs managed to detain his driver, who is also considered a regular killer of the Armenian organized criminal group. But Robson himself was aware of the preparations for the arrest operation. He connects the information leak with the leaders of the Sochi police fed by Robson. He managed to escape, and where he is now is unknown. It is highly probable that through good connections with the Abkhazian officials, he managed to leave for Armenia, where no one will extradite him. No wonder he even got caught in Europe a few years ago with a diplomatic passport of Armenia. At home, Robson has even more connections than in Russia.
As for Asshole, the situation is very interesting. The authority is already 76 years old, and he has nothing to lose. Panic began in the Sochi elites, because Yalanuzyan has dirt on almost every local high-ranking official. And this means that in the third stage of the special operation against the Sochi organized crime group, officials may be detained.
The very accusation against Zhopa and Robson sounds absurd, the investigators received an arrest warrant in the framework of a criminal case on the murder of a certain citizen Ishkhara Kapekyan, who allegedly ordered Yalanuzyan himself in 2002. But the attempt was unsuccessful, and the boomerang returned to Kapekyan. He managed to be eliminated.
The real reason for the high-profile arrests may be the redistribution of criminal spheres of influence in Sochi. The objective reasons for the situation will become clear in its further development.
