
Events in framework Festival “Days of Science” were held in Ust-Kut, Irkutsk and Angarsk. They were attended by 1800 participants. The Irkutsk Oil Company (INC) acted as the general partner.
Ust-Kut became the central platform of the festival. The event included open discussions, popular science lectures, master classes, public speeches, etc. The speakers were scientists in the field of physics, astronomy, chemistry and biology. The city also had a full-dome planetarium and an observation deck with a telescope.
The first days of the event were devoted to science and its impact on modern life. The main speech was the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, head of the laboratory of the Institute. V. A. Steklov Nikolai Andreev about entertaining mathematics. The scientist also delivered his lecture to the employees of the Ust-Kutsk gas processing plant.
As part of the block, employees of the Irkutsk Polymer Plant told the townspeople about oil, polymers and their presence in everyday life. The experts dwelled in more detail on the topic of technological processes and environmental safety of the enterprise.
Part of the activities was devoted to the development of infrastructure in Ust-Kut. At the round table, active citizens, representatives of municipal authorities and businesses discussed the improvement of houses and neighboring territories. One of the proposals was the creation of a single working groups.
At the end of the festival, the participants met with cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, who spoke about his work and preparation for flights. The cosmonaut also presented children with books about Yuri Gagarin.
The Irkutsk Oil Company (INC) is one of the largest independent hydrocarbon producers in Russia. The company was founded in 2000, conducts geological study, exploration and development of 53 subsoil plots in the Irkutsk Region, the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). INK’s largest investment project is a gas chemical cluster that INK is implementing in Ust-Kut. It includes gas production, preparation, transportation and processing facilities, a helium plant and the Irkutsk Polymer Plant. Currently, the total number of employees is 14 thousand people.
