The court arrested in absentia the first deputy Trukhanov in the case of large-scale corruption in the Odessa City Council


The court arrested in absentia the dismissed first deputy mayor of Odessa Mikhail Kuchuk, who appears in “Odessa case” about corruption of local authorities and is now in Austria, writes A country.

This was reported by the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.

According to her, Kuchuk was the leader of an organized criminal group, which “controlled the officials of the Odessa City Council, the city’s budget expenditures, the activities of local utilities and committed other corruption crimes.”

In particular, since autumn, the participants of this organized crime group “controlled the development issues in Odessa, disposed of the local budget funds, as well as the activities of public utilities and their interaction with the private sector of the market.”

“In fact, the criminal organization controlled all significant budget expenditures in Odessa and coordinated the main issues on the agenda of the sessions of the Odessa City Council,” SAP reports.

Earlier, we wrote that NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to three deputies of the mayor of Odessa, Gennady Trukhanov, including Kuchuk. But to him in absentia, since he was not in Odessa.

This is about:

  • the first deputy mayor of Odessa, who is suspected under Part 3 of Art. 255 (creation of a criminal organization) and part 4 of Art. 368 (taking a bribe by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine;
  • and about. Deputy Mayor of Odessa – Head of the Office of the Executive Committee of the Odessa City Council (part 3, article 255, part 4, article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine);
  • deputy city head of Odessa (part 3 of article 255, part 3 of article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Law enforcers claim that large Odessa entrepreneurs Boris Kaufman and Alexander Granovsky (Borukhovich), as well as their manager Konstantin Efremov, systematically bribed senior city hall officials (vice mayors Oleg Bryndak, Mikhail Kuchuk, Svetlana Bedrega) and received kickbacks from developers for promoting their business , as well as from municipal contractors and suppliers of goods and services – in the amount of 10% of the cost of delivery.

According to media reports, Trukhanov himself also visited the NABU for interrogationhowever, this has not been officially reported.

Earlier it became known that the deputy head of the Odessa OVA Oleg Muratov was detained by the SBU.
