“A little after midnight, the police received a call that a man was shot down on the Chuguev-Martove highway. This happened closer to Martove. A middle-aged man died. There was no one around. They found numbers 0018 on the spot,” said Barannik.
Such numbers belong to the front car of Yaroslavsky’s cortege. The source also noted that Yaroslavsky often drives a car himself.
Later, a man called the police, who said that he had become a participant in an accident near Martovoy, and that he would come to the regional department to testify.
As of 10 am, this man had not come to the police yet. Later, another interlocutor said that as of 12:00 the driver was already being interrogated by law enforcement officers.
According to media reports, there are witnesses who saw Yaroslavsky’s motorcade leaving Kharkov in the evening (Yaroslavsky works in Kharkov and lives in Martovoy – ed.).
The police of the Kharkiv region could not confirm or deny the information about a fatal accident near Martove. Olena Barannik, a spokeswoman for the Kharkiv region police, promised to find out if the fatal accident took place near Martovoy late on February 9 or on the night of February 10 and provide this information later.
