The Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigation in Kyiv is investigating the theft on a large scale and in wartime conditions.

On March 3, 2022, fragments of a downed Russian missile hit the building of the State Enterprise “Special Communication” in Kyiv, Vokzalnaya Square, 3. As a result, the fence and the repair zone were partially destroyed.

On March 7, during the daytime, volunteers allegedly entered the damaged premises and, taking the opportunity, stole property stored on the minus second floor, namely the contents of mail, in particular, jewelry made of gold and silver – earrings, rings, chains, rings. diamond pendants, scrap silver, scrap gold, etc.
According to Spetssvyaz, the value of the stolen property is about UAH 86 million.
On July 1, the DBR reported suspicions to three members of the volunteer formation. In the hotel complex at the place of residence of one of the suspects, jewelry made of gold and silver was seized. The case file contains a protocol for reviewing video from surveillance cameras of the repair area of the State Enterprise “Spetssvyaz. In addition, the mobile phones of these persons were recorded at the crime scene.
One of the suspects, who was found to have jewelry, has been kept in custody since the beginning of July with a bail in the amount of 744,000 hryvnias. As of December 7, the bail had not been paid, and the court extended the detention period for another two months. The remaining two defendants were placed under round-the-clock house arrest.
On October 18, a fourth accomplice with the call sign “Majohed” was detained. Jewelry was also found at his house during a search. This man was also placed under round-the-clock house arrest while wearing an electronic bracelet. His lawyer spoke about the groundlessness of suspicion and the absence of risks and thanked the TRO of the commander of the military unit for conscientious service.
The court, at the request of the State Bureau of Investigation, extended the pre-trial investigation until April 1, 2023.
The investigator said, that at present, a number of witnesses need to be interrogated in the case, and investigative experiments should be carried out with two suspects. In addition, the results of 16 forensic examinations are expected – forensic ballistic, edged weapons, materials, substances and products, gemological explosives, merchandising. The conclusions of these experts will be taken into account in the final qualification of the crime.
