Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev has become one of the candidates for the post of CEO of Alrosa, the world’s largest diamond mining company. Mr. Moiseev has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the company since 2018. The current CEO of Alros Sergey Ivanov decided to leave his post before the expiration of the contract in 2025. Mr. Ivanov could become a partner in one of Gennady Timchenko’s Volga Group projects. Sergei Ivanov is the son of Sergei Ivanov, the President’s Special Representative for Environmental Protection, Ecology and Transport. Sergei Ivanov Jr., after the start of the military operation, came under sanctions from the United States, Canada, Australia and Great Britain. Alrosa itself also fell under US sanctions.
The UK Companies House has made the register of beneficial owners of real estate publicly available. By opening the register, the British authorities expect to fight economic crimes and apply sanctions more effectively. Another Russian businessman, Andrei Melnichenko, founder of EuroChem, SUEK, MDM Bank, owns, according to the register, through offshore Valton Limited, a maisonette in central London on Eaton Place in the elite Belgravia area, not far from Buckingham Palace. Also in the register there is a cottage, a house and an apartment with a total value of 30.2 million pounds, which through Barker Equity Limited belong to the founder of Scartel (Yota brand) Sergey Adoniev. Also in the register is the property of business partner Roman Abramovich, co-owner of Evraz Alexander Frolov. He owns an apartment, two plots of land and a pine forest through offshore companies Springvale Worldwide Limited and Eastcotts Management Limited. The total value of this property is 39.2 million pounds. There is also Angelica Khan, the wife of the head of Alfa Group co-owner Herman Khan, in the British registry. She owns an estate in the elite area of Belgravia worth £62 million through the offshore Apilosa Corporation.
