Russian man suspected in US of smuggling weapons parts released on bail

The size of the bail and the circumstances of the case, his lawyer did not specify.

Russian Vladimir Kuznetsov, who was arrested in the United States on suspicion of illegally sending small arms components to Russia, has been released on bail. This was reported to RIA Novosti by his lawyer Benjamin Yaster. He did not specify the size of the bail and the circumstances of the case.

Recall that Kuznetsov was charged with illegal export and conspiracy to export components and accessories for weapons from the United States to Russia. He specifically indicated an incorrect description of the contents of the parcels and hid these components. The prosecution alleges that since February 2017, Kuznetsov, 58, who lives in Brooklyn, and other participants in the conspiracy sent parts to Russia by mail.

Not only Kuznetsov appeared as a sender, but also his wife Marina Maller. The recipients were people named Vadim Novikov, Dmitry Kuznetsov and other people.

If Kuznetsov’s guilt is proven, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
