The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Sochi resident Nurali Kurbanov to 8.5 years in prison for financing a banned in Russia terrorist the Islamic State (IS) organization.
The man was found guilty under article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Assistance to terrorist activities”). The Russian will spend the first three years in prison, and then will be sent to a strict regime colony.
The court found that on December 11, 2020 and August 7, 2021, Kurbanov carried out two translation in the amount of 22,704 rubles and 100 dollars to the account of the IG participant.
