Russian court arrests Ukrainian businessman in absentia

The Khamovniki Court of Moscow has issued a sanction for arrest in absentia of Ukrainian businessman Yevgeny Chernyak (listed as extremists and terrorists), who owns the Khortytsya and Pervak ​​vodka company, for funding the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

The decision was made at the request of the investigating authorities of Russia. A criminal case was initiated against him under article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Assistance to terrorist activities”). He must be taken into custody for a period of two months from the moment of detention in Russia or in the event of his extradition to the country.

Chernyak put on the wanted list. His data appeared in the search database of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. According to the investigation, from February to April 2022, he transferred more than 500 million rubles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine to commit terrorist acts in Russia. The businessman also purchased 90 million rubles worth of goods for the Ukrainian military in June.

Investigators detained two of his proxies, also involved in the financing of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
