Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against a Ukrainian businessman Evgenia Chernyaka, who is accused of sponsoring terrorism for transferring money for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The businessman was put on the wanted list, according to agency’s message.
A case was initiated against him under Part 1.1 of Art. 205.1 of the Criminal Code (financing of terrorism). The article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of eight to 15 years or life.

The Investigative Committee said that the issue of arresting the shares of organizations is now being decided, since their leaders are suspected of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The department did not name the organizations in question. Chernyak founded the Global Spirits holding (it produced vodka under the brands Khortytsya, Morosha, Pervak, etc.).
“According to the investigation, in the period from February to April 2022, Chernyak and other persons entered into a criminal conspiracy aimed at financing terrorism. The accomplices organized the transfer of funds in the amount of more than 500 million rubles to the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian armed formations. to carry out terrorist activities on the territory of the Russian Federation,” the IC said in a statement.
In addition, in June 2023, Chernyak supplied the Ukrainian military with goods intended for combat operations worth more than 90 million rubles.
On the territory of Moscow and the region, investigators have already conducted more than ten searches in this case. Russian security forces are carrying out actions aimed at establishing the whereabouts and detaining Chernyak.
Later, the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, Irina Volk informedthat the police in Moscow detained terrorist financing suspects. “The beneficiary owner of the international holding – a manufacturer of alcoholic beverages, as well as other founders and managers of this company, are suspected of the crime,” she stressed.

The message on the Global Spirits website says that after February 2022, the holding revoked the license for the production of alcoholic beverages in the Russian and Belarusian markets. The company considers the use of the holding’s brands in Russia unlawful and challenged this in the court of Cyprus.

Khortytsya last year was the leader of the Russian vodka market with a share of 5.3%, the second place was occupied by Morosha with 4.4%, the third was Belenkaya with 4% (produced by Beluga Group), wrote “Kommersant”.
Yevgeny Chernyak in 2021 was ranked 19th in the list of the 100 richest Ukrainians according to Forbes Ukraine, his fortune was estimated at $470 million. Chernyak is the founder and head of the Supervisory Board of the Global Spirits holding, which is the owner of the Khortytsya distillery and Odessa Cognac Factory. Since 2018, Chernyak has also been leading Big Money YouTube channel.
