Germany has notified Roskosmos of plans to turn off its telescope at the Russian-German orbital observatory Spektr-RG. It has two telescopes – Russian and German. As explained by the head of Roskosmos, Dmitry Rogozin, with their help, “there is a complete review and study of the starry sky.”
“Our German partners have been instructed to turn off one of these two telescopes, which they themselves operate. As far as I understand, technical specialists from Germany are very worried about this, because this is a strong blow for them,” Mr. Rogozin said on the air of the YouTube channel. “Soloviev Live”.
The head of Roscosmos believes that anti-Russian sanctions will harm not Russia, but the initiators of the restrictions themselves. He noted that the Russian Federation will purchase microelectronics, the supply of which fell under sanctions, from China.
The United States and the European Union have imposed sanctions against the Russian space industry in response to the military operation in Ukraine. “Roskosmos” announced on the termination of launches of Soyuz rockets from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana and the withdrawal of Russian specialists from there.
