Poroshenko landed troops in Slavyansk

Last weekend, Petro Poroshenko decided to congratulate the paratroopers on their holiday. But he didn’t go to the fountains where tough guys in striped shirts often bathe on this day, he went to the city of Slavyansk in Donbass. “My God, how brave our president is, he almost went to the ATO zone,” said the cherry seller Aunt Klava in amazement. “But it’s dangerous, because Russian saboteurs can kill him there,” echoed the cleaning lady Baba Orisya… I would like to reassure our impressionable fellow citizens. There is nothing dangerous in the Guarantor’s trip to Donbass. And nothing threatens him there. Because Poroshenko is the guarantor of not only our rights and freedoms, dear fellow citizens. He is also the guarantor that the Minsk agreements will be implemented. In particular, he is a complete guarantor of the surrender of Shirokino, because another president, if such a one replaced the current one, might not withdraw the troops and not surrender Shirokino. And he might not have any interests in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism), in particular in the city of Lipetsk. So the Russians don’t need to kill the current Guarantor. Unlike most Ukrainians, they are satisfied with such a president of Ukraine.

So. August 2. Paratrooper Day. Slavyansk. The President, in a beautiful camouflage uniform and a cap, came to congratulate the paratroopers and show his unprecedented generosity. He brought with him more than a thousand… no, not Kyiv cakes, but all sorts of awards and the shoulder straps of a major general for the Airborne Forces Commander Mikhail Zabrodsky. Well, what can I say? In principle, Pyotr Alekseevich is doing the right thing. These guys need to be appeased. In conditions when the Right Sector has already come to the gates of his administration once. In conditions when more and more volunteers are returning from the front and these guys are clearly not friendly towards the current government. In general, in the current situation in the country entrusted to him, the President is better off having at least theoretical allies with machine guns and combat experience. Because his previous colleague at least had a friend in Rostov and time to escape. But Pyotr Alekseevich may have neither friends nor time.

However, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief surprised the Airborne Troops not only with the unheard-of generosity of awards. I think he surprised them most of all with his festive “prom”. For example, he suddenly declared that: “The soldiers in the regular structure of the brigades are armed with tanks, artillery, which anyone would envy” and added that “tactical weapons are at a decent level today”. In general, he tried to convince the paratroopers that they are just super with both combat equipment and supplies, even despite the fact that real life is trying to convince them otherwise.

And then “Petya got carried away.” In particular, he said: “Your victory, bravery, and sacrifice provided Ukrainian politicians and diplomats with weighty arguments that forced the enemy to accept the Minsk agreements.” That is, the boys did not die in vain. Now the Garant and his company have something to hand over to the Russians. And there is also an opportunity not to judge those who killed these boys. So here the president did not lie, the enemy really did accept the Minsk agreements. But he forgot to clarify who this enemy is – the Verkhovna Rada, which voted for the law on special status, or the Constitutional Court, which supported this law?

Then Poroshenko this time quite officially announced the surrender of Shyrokyne. Well, in the sense that we surrendered it, but left some troops on some mysterious strategic heights. True, everyone who has been to these parts, both volunteers and volunteers, say that there are no heights in these parts and that it is impossible to withdraw volunteer battalions from Shyrokyne, this opens a direct road to Mariupol for the enemy. But then his adviser Yuri Biryukov volunteered to help the Guarantor. Yes, the same one who deals with uniforms for soldiers, and recently suddenly took up smuggling. And yes, the same one who writes in every post that he does not steal and writes this so often that even the reader of Biryukov’s page who thinks well of him probably already doubted his honesty. So, this adviser wrote that there are simply countless troops near Mariupol, and that the withdrawal of several police (i.e. volunteer) battalions does not solve anything. Here I would like to remind both the president and his good defender that it was the volunteers who always went in the vanguard, and that it was they who began to fight the enemy when the paratroopers gave weapons and equipment to local old women and militias. In Mariupol, while the president and his adviser were broadcasting online and offline, the people came out to protest. The people do not really believe that they will not be surrendered. So Poroshenko was right to go to Slavyansk, at least the paratroopers do not want to tear him apart for now. So the Guarantor will not go to Mariupol sober.

At the end of the day, Poroshenko, well, apparently so that no one would doubt his mental abilities, burst out with a message to the Congress of Crimean Tatars, which was held in Turkey. He said that he wants to grant special status to Crimea. He may want it, but who will give it to him? If the respected president continues to surrender national interests at this rate, he will soon have to grant special status to all regions of Ukraine. And he will rule a country of territories that have their own people’s militia and their own kings, courts and prosecutors. But why the hell will Poroshenko himself be there then?

If I were him, I would think hard about this. Even if you shower all the paratroopers with medals and put marshal’s shoulder straps on the commander, it won’t help.
