Pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa” trades with the Russian Federation during a full-scale war?
Drugs under the brand of the pharmaceutical company “Darnitsa”, owned by the former people’s deputy Zagoriy, were noticed on the Russian market: is the Ukrainian manufacturer sponsoring the aggressor country?
War is war, and income is above all? While Ukraine is suffering from Russian aggression, pharmaceuticals of the domestic brand Darnitsa, owned by ex-people’s deputy Gleb Zagoriy, can be freely bought in Russian pharmacy chains, and the businessman’s family lives happily in Europe. Does the Ukrainian manufacturer really continue to trade with the enemy, how exactly did Darnitsa win a leading position in the pharmaceutical market, and what other business is Zagoriy connected with?
The secrets of the domestic pharmaceutical market were explored in a new material by a journalist “Stopbark» Diana Lovskaya.
After the airing of the preliminary investigation by StopKor about the activities of the pharmaceutical company Darnitsa, the editors received a lot of interesting information. As it turned out, despite the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, the company of ex-People’s Deputy Zagoriy probably did not completely cut off economic ties with the aggressor country.
In particular, drugs under the Darnitsa brand can still be found freely available on Russian drug sales websites. And this is not a fake. The manufacturer’s address is marked on the package: Kyiv, Ukraine. On one of the preparations, the production date is indicated – 2018, that is, much later after the start of the war in eastern Ukraine.

Drugs from ”Darnitsa” can still be seen on Russian websites
By data Media, Darnitsa products can also be bought offline in pharmacies of any of the major streets of Moscow, for example, Tverskaya. It is believed that instead of direct deliveries, Zagoriy began to use transit through countries that are members of the Customs Union with Russia.
“Darnitsa”. How legal is it now to trade with the Russian Federation?
It should be noted that in September 2022 the Cabinet of Ministers resolution completely banned the export of goods to the Russian Federation. In particular, the document provides for a veto on the export of goods outside the customs territory of Ukraine under foreign economic contracts, the trade or country of destination of which is the Russian Federation.
“We continue sanctions pressure against Russia. This decree is another of the many instruments of economic influence. We understand that sanctions are a means not only to respond to a military threat, but also to prevent aggression in the future. I want to state that since the beginning of the war, the export of goods to the Russian Federation has been de facto stopped. Now it is enshrined at the legal level.”, – comments the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko.
Against this background, Darnitsa publicly denies cooperation with the aggressor
In an interview with the Glavkom online publication, Gleb Zagoriy, at the beginning of the war in Donbass, patriotically stated that Darnitsa was allegedly stopping the supply of medicines to the Russian Federation and plans to reduce them to zero in 2016.
And after the start of a full-scale invasion in 2022, the company even became the winner of the HR-brand Ukraine award in the “Cultural Code of the Company” nomination with the “PharmOborona” case. Moreover, Darnitsa is the leader of the domestic pharmaceutical market: every seventh package of medicines sold in Ukraine is produced by this company.

Prices for drugs “Darnitsa” are the highest on the market
It should be noted that in order to fill the shelves of pharmacies in Ukraine with their products, one desire is not enough. After all, in order to obtain permission to sell drugs, you need a conclusion from the State Expert Center. Only on the basis of this conclusion, the State Medical Service issues a permit for the use of the drug and enters it into the state register of medicines.
“All this makes the position of the head of the State Expert Center a very “tasty” morsel. After all, it will depend on his decisions which drugs will go on sale and which will be refused. In addition, he will have access to a lot of secret information about innovative drugs, as well as own their trade secrets. What can I say – a man unrealistically influential”, the journalist comments.
Who manages the issuance of permits for the use of drugs in Ukraine?
By an amazing coincidence, Ivan Bavykin, a former assistant to Gleb Zagoriy in the position of people’s deputy, won the competition for the position of director of the GEC. A number of public organizations reacted accordingly and declared a conflict of interest in this appointment.

“It is unacceptable for a person who previously worked for the owner of one of the leading pharmaceutical manufacturers in Ukraine to influence the decision to admit or not admit drugs to domestic pharmacies”– said Alexandra Ustinova, member of the board of the Anti-Corruption Action Center.
In the meantime, Ukrainians are giving almost the last money for medicines, Zagoriy’s relatives are fleeing the war in Europe
In particular, the journalists of Ukrayinska Pravda fixed on the streets of Austrian Vienna, an expensive Mercedes, registered to the pharmaceutical company Darnitsa. Next to the car is Gleb’s sister Zagoria and Dmitry Ognev, her husband.
“It is worth noting that Dmitry Ognev and Gleb Zagoriy share a common roof over their heads – they have not only family ties, but also a residence permit in the same apartment. And Natalya Ogneva, the wife of Dmitry Ognev – in the past Natalya Zagoriy, at one time was a member of the supervisory board of the pharmaceutical company Darnitsa– Diana Lovskaya notes.
Recall that the former deputy from the BPP and pharmaceutical magnate Gleb Zagoriy more than once fell into the focus of journalistic investigations.
So, during his deputyship, businessman Zagoriy managed to “light up” in scandals with the financing of “titushki” for Anti-Maidan, the ransom of “Lutsenko’s apartments”, blocking the work of NABU on the Nasirov case and a number of others. However, each time he got away with it – probably due to influential and very versatile connections. And not only in the Ukrainian politicum: the deputy head of the government of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko, turned out to be a friend of the youth of the mother of the ex-people’s deputy.
