As it became known, pundits actually studied the video recordings of Shnurov’s speeches and rendered their verdict. As Kommersant later wrote, in the conclusion the specific name of the composition, which raised questions among the security forces, was not announced, but according to some reports, experts studied a video recording of the performance of the Zoya group on October 5, 2023, where they performed, among other things, a composition called “ Repentant.”
It must be said that this song is not the only one where Shnur famously talked about the governor of the Northern capital and his concerns about the city.
Suffice it to recall the provocative “So Far”, where they sing about “Beglov’s shovel”, “where and what it rows”, a city littered with garbage, and the actual composition “Mercy Baku!” Then the media wrote that Shnurov again returned to the PR war with the governor, singing
Another outright musical attack happened to Shnurov when the head of the city canceled his concert at the football Super Cup. Then the showman shamelessly sang: “Come on, come on good bye, come on Baku bye.”

But, despite the rather offensive epithets that were present in all previous compositions, for some reason the experts studied only “Repentant”. Experts came to the conclusion that the artist speaks in a sarcastic manner, allegedly demonstrating excessive admiration for Beglov, and that this song is about the “governor idol,” and that the first person of the Northern capital is “his own master.”
It is difficult to say whether there was direct malice on the part of the scientists here. But they also decided that the song presents negativity not as a fact, but as Shnurov’s personal hostility towards the situation that has developed with the cleaning of the city.
As a result, a team of experts nevertheless discovered in the “Repentant” song the “intentional dissemination” of fakes that affect the reputation of the governor of St. Petersburg. However, experts did not find any signs that false information was conveyed to the audience under the guise of reliable information.
The musician immediately responded to the conclusions of the examination, announced in the city media, and immediately declared his solidarity with them. And regarding the governor’s reputation, he said, in his usual manner, that

But representatives of the cultural intelligentsia spoke out, saying that such songs are a clear sign of a “political attack” on the city authorities. After the release of “Repentant”, the governor still responded, saying that this was sabotage, but this would not scare him, because he “is not a coward and does not take things on his paw.”

From the very beginning of this musically sultry story, people in St. Petersburg whispered in a low voice that the creation of the videos and the general hype associated with them was the work of a billionaire Evgenia Prigozhina. It was possible to write not even songs, but sagas about his dislike for the governor.
Although Shnurov himself traditionally claimed that this was his own work, in the Northern capital they said that the head of Concord was generously monetizing the musician’s talents. The businessman’s goal was definitely clear – he wanted Beglov to leave his post as quickly as possible, and even managed to write an entire letter (supported by some documents) to Prosecutor General Krasnov. Further implementation of the goal was prevented by the tragic death of Prigozhin.
Since then, it seemed that the first person of the city had no political enemies. So why was all this fuss and fuss with the examination started, the townspeople began to wonder after the scandal began.
“Do we have a new word in legislation? Are they detained not for breaking the law, but at the request of some official? Are irony, ridicule, and sarcasm prohibited?” – write indignant commentators.

In fact, as knowledgeable people say, the problem lies in the autumn gubernatorial elections. It is difficult to say how the current governor’s chances of winning are assessed today. But it is absolutely clear that the artist, who has again appeared, like a Phoenix from the ashes, on central television channels, can again “give out something like that” during the tense gubernatorial race. It was precisely for preventive deterrence that this attempt was made with an examination through representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Like, know your place, Mr. Artist.
