Litigators Kazakovs are fighting for the inheritance of the oligarch Burlakov

After the death of the billionaire, his widow Lyudmila and daughters Elena and Veronika, on the one hand, and Burlakova’s sister Vera and her husband Nikolai Kazakov, on the other hand, are arguing over his inheritance.

At the same time, the Kazakovs are still suing Sofia Shevtsova, who is seeking recognition of her daughter Nicole, born in 2020, as Burlakov’s child. It is not without reason that the Kazakovs see the Shevtsovs as contenders for a share in the inheritance.

Earlier we wrote that the Lyublinsky District Court of Moscow recognized the legitimacy of Burlakov’s allegedly handwritten will in favor of the Kazakov couple. The decision is more than dubious, given that the legislation of the Russian Federation recognizes only notarized wills.

But the Lublin court of the capital decided that the note submitted by the applicants for the property of the deceased in court cancels the previously drawn up will, in which Burlakov transferred the inheritance to his wife. The Court of Appeal also confirmed this strange decision. “The judges of the first and appeal instances suggest that everyone believe that a 70-year-old businessman, experienced in the preparation of any kind of business papers, could dispose of his huge fortune with the help of a handwritten page from a notebook without any official or notary registration?” – the well-known lawyer Yana Brutman is perplexed in an article in Legal.Report.

Another oddity is that the heir in the will is named a certain “Kazakov fund”, created much later than the date of the will, in which he is mentioned.

No less scandalous is the process of paternity in the St. Petersburg City Court. Lawyer Oleg Ivanov notes that even the widow of a businessman and his legitimate daughters recognize paternity. Against only the Kazakovs, delaying the process.

The Court of First Instance previously fully satisfied all the claims filed by Sofia Shevtsova. And an examination with Vera Kazakova’s biomaterials established the fact of her and the girl’s biological relationship with a 99.99% probability. The Kazakovs filed an appeal and in every possible way delay the genetic examination of paternity, appointed by the court.

The most interesting question is where the Kazakovs have the resources to fight a court war that has dragged on for years on many fronts – the courts are still going on in the UK, Latvia and many other jurisdictions. In addition, as knowledgeable people say, at the end of last year they “brought in” a considerable amount of six zeros in foreign currency for resolving the issue in the Lublin court. So, where did the Estonian citizen and resident Kazakov and his wife manage to find money to resolve the issue? Obviously, with the death of the oligarch, they lost the opportunity to parasitize on his money, as it was before. And spending your own funds on courts is not in the style of the Kazakovs.

All indications point to the fact that the Kazakovs’ side in this lawsuit has some kind of shadow investor. Most likely, someone has long “sunk down” on the unique beauty yacht Black Pearl, built with the direct participation of Burlakov himself. The intrigue is who is this player who controls the actions of the Kazakovs and sponsors their endless litigation for the sake of the yacht, which, according to the Marinetraffic service, is now moored in the port of Genoa.
