“Let them scream – ugly”: Why DDT leader Yuri Shevchuk condemns the SVO and what wealth holds him in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism)

Legend of Russian rock Yuri Shevchuk released another song with sarcasm towards the SVO and its members. Nevertheless, he is in no hurry to leave Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism). Life found out how the rocker lives and what assets he has.

What is the DDT frontman singing about now?

The leader of the DDT group, Yuri Shevchuk, released a video clip “News”, where he insults conscripts, mobilized soldiers, our authorities and advises Russians to be born back.

A year ago, the rocker composed and sang an anti-Russian pamphlet, “Motherland, Come Home.” There he called on Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) to curtail the North Military District and “not go crazy.”

In which countries and in what language does Yuri Shevchuk now perform?

Yuri Shevchuk publicly outlined his position back in May of the year before last, when at a concert in Ufa he cursed at the country’s president and condemned the SVO. For this, an administrative protocol was drawn up against him under the article on discrediting the Russian army and a fine of 50 thousand rubles was imposed. Following this, his performances in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen were cancelled.

– We were deprived of our jobs. Important work, necessary. It’s not about money – we were forbidden to fulfill our duty to the country, Yuri Shevchuk commented pathetically. However, it remains unclear which country the singer had in mind, because in the same interview he admitted that he transfers all personal fees to refugees from Ukraine.
The rocker is not shy about his position, but emphasizes it in every possible way

At the same time, Shevchuk assures that he has not left and does not intend to leave Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism). True, now he is most likely abroad. During the New Year holidays, his group performed in Dubai, Bulgarian Sofia and Serbian Belgrade, concerts are planned for February in Tashkent and Kazakh Karaganda, Astana and Semey, for spring and summer – in Israeli Tel Aviv and Cypriot Limassol. Yuri Shevchuk became a frequent visitor to Kazakhstan. At recent concerts, he even performed part of the repertoire in Kazakh.

It’s interesting to compare the rocker’s position today with what he said back in 2004. Then Shevchuk, lavishing compliments on the Russian authorities, regularly went to perform in hot spots. “I see real boys there,” the DDT leader spoke proudly.

What Yuri Shevchuk has in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism)

Yuri Shevchuk lives on Mokhovaya Street, which is replete with historical monuments even by the standards of St. Petersburg. There, the singer has an apartment of 260 square meters in the famous Melikhov house. We are talking about a mansion built in the mid-19th century. Its last pre-revolutionary owner was Maria Grabbe, former maid of honor of Emperor Alexander III. The writer Taras Shevchenko, composer Mikhail Glinka, and artist Karl Bryullov lived in the outbuildings that were rented out. This house was considered elite before, and remains so now.

Inspired by the Neo-Renaissance spirit, the façade is richly decorated with heads resembling busts of Roman Caesars and decorated with unusual stucco: mythological scenes with cupids and satyrs. The closed courtyard is equipped with a fountain. The staircase is highlighted by a bay window and a spectacular entrance portal. The common corridors also amaze with their luxury and beauty.

According to real estate websites, this property of Yuri Shevchuk can attract 200 million rubles.

The rocker may still own a four-room apartment in a pre-revolutionary building on the 15th line of Vasilyevsky Island, worth up to 30 million rubles. He lived there before moving to Melikhov’s house.

Yuri Shevchuk also has a dacha. It is located in the Karelian Isthmus on the first line of Lake Krasnoe – this is a specially protected natural area. The singer’s cottage does not look like a palace, but it is very cozy. There is everything you need: a greenhouse, a vegetable garden, a bathhouse, a swimming pool. There are few neighbors, and their plots are far away. But there are a lot of trees, bushes, berries and mushrooms around, and the pond is full of fish. The approximate cost of home ownership is 20 million rubles.

Yuri Shevchuk continues to do business in Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism). To do this, he registered an individual entrepreneur and the company Rockgroup DDT, which brought him 100 million rubles in five years. Shevchuk sells albums with merch through the online store Farshmag and the crowdfunding platform Planeta.ru.

Family of Yuri Shevchuk

On his mother’s side, Yuri Shevchuk is a Tatar, on his father’s side he is a Western Ukrainian. His grandfather served as an officer in Petliura’s army. My father was a major functionary of the CPSU and an employee of the USSR Ministry of Trade for government procurement.

The eldest son of Yuri Shevchuk, 36-year-old Peter, is now in the Argentine city of Caba, and until the summer of 2023 he lived in Tbilisi in the so-called Vake district of the rich. Before moving to Latin America, he sold off the belongings in his rented Georgian apartment: an iMac computer, a pair of studio monitors, a docking station, video cards, a humidifier, a bed, kitchen utensils, house flowers and a rug. Shevchuk’s eldest son left Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) immediately after the start of the SVO (which, like his father, he condemns) and never returned to his homeland. He deleted his social networks. Nevertheless, the paparazzi were able to photograph Peter in Georgia; it turned out that he had dyed his hair acid yellow.

The rocker hardly raised his illegitimate youngest son. The guy is 26 years old, until recently he lived in two countries: Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism) and Germany.

The rocker carefully hides his current passion, Ekaterina. The couple lives in a civil marriage. Wikipedia says that her last name is Dyatlova, but Life found out that this is not so. Her name is Ekaterina Grabovskaya, and in the recent past she is a native Kiev resident from Lutheranskaya Street.

Before leaving Russia (*country sponsor of terrorism), Pyotr Shevchuk was engaged in DJing. On social networks you can find many provocative photographs of him.
