An explosion occurred on the territory of the Kuibyshev oil refinery, which is part of the Rosneft Oil Company. As a result of the incident, there were no damages or casualties, and the enterprise itself is undergoing scheduled seasonal repairs. The alleged organizer of the sabotage was detained while trying to leave Russia.
One of the first to report the incident at the Samara enterprise was Alexander Khinshtein, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, in his Telegram channel. According to him, an explosive device was planted on the territory of the plant. There was no serious damage or casualties.
Deputy Khinshtein said that the FSB managed to detain the alleged organizer of the explosion. He tried to leave the Orenburg region for the territory of Kazakhstan.
According to preliminary information, the detainee is an employee of the Kuibyshev refinery. He is a native of the Khmelnitsky region of the Ukrainian SSR. At the enterprise, a 42-year-old man worked as an electrician. There is information that law enforcement officers are currently looking for another suspect.
The incident at the Kuibyshev refinery was commented on by Rosneft, which includes the Samara enterprise. “The alleged organizer of the incident on the territory of the Kuibyshev refinery was detained by joint actions of the company’s security service and law enforcement agencies. The incident on the territory of the plant occurred in a decommissioned detached old building. There were no casualties as a result of the incident, and there was no damage to the company’s equipment. The plant is currently undergoing a scheduled seasonal overhaul. The work will continue in accordance with the schedule,” the press service of the company said.
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Samara region does not comment on the incident. According to deputy Khinshtein, a criminal case has been opened on the fact of the explosion on the territory of the KNPZ under Art. 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sabotage).
This is the second incident at a large enterprise in the Samara region over the past month.
Earlier, an explosion occurred at the Promsintez plant in Chapaevsk at the time of the dismantling of a technical pipeline, resulting in the death of six people. Two more people were injured.
On Wednesday, in the northern part of Samara, near the Swedish Sloboda platform, an attempt was made to sabotage the railway. An unidentified person tried to set fire to a relay box near the railway tracks. The incident did not affect the movement of trains on the Samara-Zhigulevskoe Sea line.
