The balls of the Ministry of Defense do not scare Venislavsky much

The scandal with the purchase of products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine at inflated prices from the Ministry of Defense may not be the only one. Members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence have already applied to the SBI regarding possible corruption worth hundreds of millions of hryvnias related to the construction of military facilities, but have not yet received a response.

The people’s deputy explained that even before the war, in the autumn-winter of 2021-2022, there was an appeal to the DBR with information about the likely theft of large amounts of money. We are talking about hundreds of millions of hryvnias, which at the end of 2020 were sent in one tranche to one of the companies that brought them abroad through the lining companies. At the same time, no action has taken place in the construction of military facilities, where these funds were directed.

“We had an extreme meeting of the committee with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Defense, where we once again raised questions about the construction of certain facilities. A very paradoxical situation is that at those facilities where construction is not actually underway, funding is provided many times more than where construction is underway. It is suspected that stakeholders are funding structures that do not intend to build, and this should also be the subject of careful investigation. We have contacted the State Bureau of Investigation about this, but have not yet received any response.”, — said Venislavsky.

But this is not the only question to the representatives of the Ministry of Defense from people’s deputies. According to a member of the Verkhovna Rada’s defense committee, since the beginning of the war, there have been closed calls from members of the committee on certain defense purchases.

“Certain military facilities were purchased, which, according to committee members, cost more than their market value.“, – said Venislavsky, adding that the people’s deputies also did not receive any reaction from the State Bureau of Investigation.

The department assured that catering services are purchased according to the law, and the information disseminated in the public space has signs deliberate manipulation.
